Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

TheFF, they are absolutely adorable and I can't wait to see what they look like when they're older!
It's interesting that you can see a clear V shape on the light one's head.

Cream Legbar father x Buff-Laced Polish mother. Three nearly identical pullets of this cross hatched, discernible from each other only by location of the occasional black feather tip. While quite young they were a clean white. As they approached laying age, their color became "dirtier," still white but with a tan/almost gray cast, and with the odd black feather. I sold two and am hanging onto the third till I see what color egg she lays.

so this is how a ER/e+ Co/co+ Db/db+ Pg/pg+ Ml/ml+ B/b+ I/i+ birds look like...!!!!! I always wondered if homozygosity was need it for the Buff laced pattern, and now I see this is the case...

This is a great thread! It is nice to see everyone's hybrids. I have two that just hatched last week or so. I think the light chick is a hen and the dark chick is a roo, I'm not entirely sure though. The light chick had a white EE for a momma and then black chick had a silver/grey Cochin for a momma. My silly little Serama ended up being the broody that raised them. Actually, my other Serama thinks she is the momma too! So they get along quite will in the flock with two feisty protectors!
I would bet money on it that your right about which is male and female. The black one will be barred i bet and the head spot is a dead give away. Im ccl x barred cochin lil black roos looked the exact same. My ccl x with a white bird also looked the same as your lil white one. Her head looked exactly like yours and the males had a fully yellow topped head

So i cant find the pics of the lil babies but here they are half grown. they were able to be feather sexed by a few weeks old and the Girl had a head like TheFF's white chick and the male had a fully yellow topped head. RIW x CCL all the males have been pure white and the females this color. They remind me allot of Gold sex links just lighter.

so the Barred Cochin x ccl i had hoped the males would be black and females a chipmunk color. This lil guy threw that therory all off.

Head Spot equals boy.

here he is a cpl weeks later. Someone mentioned boys would be barred when i posted pics on the CL thread and here is the boys barring. the EE next to him is a CCL x EE.

EE x ccl a few weeks old

The females of the chipmunk color CCL x barred cochin dont have a head spot and no barring.. Lil ee x ccl on the left

here she is a about 3-4 weeks later. the last pic is blurry of her head but shows her color the best.

The only black chicks ive got from the CCL x barred cochin are boys. here he is about a week old

This is him older and the last pic hes a cpl weeks older than the first. His sickles are coming in and his saddle hackles look interesting (black with lil dots) i cant wait to see them in fully. Also today i notice one of his feathers in his shoulders is a dark red. Maybe he will get late shoulder patches.

This is the 2nd dark boy ive got from this cross with the EE x CCl

Nicalandia, check out the males from the same cross (Cream Legbar father x Buff-Laced Polish mother). There were two, nearly identical.

From what I've read and what questions I've asked, it seams that CCLs can produce sex linked crosses with silver based birds, which are red sex links but lighter, and with black hens under the CCL cockerels, because of the barring, forming a classic black sex link. However, that will also work when crossed to other chipmunk striped breeds IN THEORY, because the white head spot should still be visible just like a pure bred CCL, however this is as yet untested.

Brilliant advantage as EEs because of the sex linkage.

HaplessRunner did test it with the EE cross. first page four pages ago. In the original post he stated that the males had a head spots and females had the clearly defined head stripes. I thought it was correct findings because on the sex link crosses page i have, it shows a brown leghorn crossed with chipmunk pattern(wild type) equals sex link. I wonder if its because of the brown leghorn in them or just because they both have the wild type down.
