Sorry! I meant the CL HEN under a black ROO to get black sex links... I think? Sorry guys, my brain gets things but my mouth (or in this case my fingers) do whatever the hell they want! Sorry for confusing people

Post 16195-16198 on the cochin thread. Barred cochins do carry silver. So as it turns out my cross can be a sex linked cross. Just becaues silver isnt in the name doesnt mean its not carried

A barred cochin and a legbar wont produce sexlink or auto sexing as it will pass the barring gene to both chicks and I don't think(with my very limiting knowledge) that barred is a silver based color. I could be wrong, I am new to learning genetics.

I use Silver Laced wyandottes and Silver Laced Cochins for my CL Sexlinks

A Barred cochin can be used to create a black Sexlink using a different rooster

barred cochin carry silver so i guess my observations are correct

This is what I got from the Chicken Calculator.

Definitely no Lav or Choc in Barred.  Shouldn't be any Mo either.I hate using the Calculator - I've never been able to get it to work for me.

any time you see + next to a mutation, it means that's the wild type and not taken into consideration for the current bird...  so basically the bird listed above is extended black (E) barred (B) and silver (S) the rest of the genes are presumed to be wild type, tho others may be hiding under the E...

any time you have a bird that has no red, only black and white, you can automatically know it carries silver.

I apologize. Like I said I don't know gentecis well and I did state I could be wrong since Im not experienced. I didn't think barring was silver based (not because silver wasnt in the name) but because barred hens are used to create blacksexs so I thought different genetics were involved.

I will go back and re-read your other posts so I can try to learn more.

Lots of wild type and silver in a barred cochin. Sry if i was rude nicalandia always gets me stirred up i guess. All that genetics talking about diffrent breeds other than the ones in question.
