Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Quote: I purchased CCL directly from GFF and about 4 out of 15 of the females head faint head spots. All of the ones that had head spots grew up to have very nice silver crests. The ones without the head spots grew up to have black or brown crests, with the exception of 2 of them that don't have any crests at all. The 2 without the crests are the most gentle pullets. The silver crests tend to be flighty, noisy, and very unfriendly.

I am interested in knowing if the birds in question of this conversation grow up to have the same look and temper as the ones I have. Please keep me informed as they grow.

My most silver light cream females had no head spot. The same as the two ones that had some brown or chestnut in the crest. The one female that I have with a head spot is too young to say. The others vary in temperament quite a bit from gentle to feisty but none seem all that noisey or flighty. The feisty ones are kind of under foot all the time! These are all pure CCL I'm talking about.

My chick with the head spot is very calm and composed so far. And the adult girls though they aren't particularly flighty.. They are great flyers if they want to. They are really pretty level headed and storm up for treats. Every time I catch them I pretty much do something disagreeable to them like put them in a box or cut their wings. But they are willing to take the chance that this is probably a treat visit each time. :)

Here is a pic of the daddy if that helps the equation at all.

is this the rooster that was ill after shipping? He is very handsome. Now that we know that cream is light butter color and not silver or white, I'm wondering if this is one of the more "correct" roosters in the USA... I look at the ear lobe "enamel white" according to the draft SOP - and I compare to the hackles which should be cream...

Thank heavens you didn't put him down if this is the same rooster...because he seems to match draft SOP better than most of the roosters seen. Although I know this is a hybrid thread...and some people are weary of color discussions.... I think that this and one or two others I have seen are the really correct ones.

Congratulations on a cream bird.....

Yes, this is the same one :) I have another one I should get a pic of too. I think he's looking pretty nice - might even have a decentish tail angle.

Here is my other boy. I wonder if a cross with him would come out the same as the first one?? Or should I cross these CCL/GLW pullets back with this one?

here is the Grey and tan ones from the Cochin x CCl. The boys definitely are born with a head spot and the ladies without. The girl is about 4 weeks older than the boy. but his comb is already getting bigger and starting to turn pink. hers hasn't grown at all and hasn't changed color at all.

Here is the girl.

Here is the boy.
