That is just not true for autosexing breeds. They should have sexually dimorphic chick down. This line seems to not have been heavily selected enough for this trait. They all look like pullets when they are bought. But when they get to be 4 plus weeks the cock or pullets side comes for some breed.
Do keep in mind that the autosexing "feature" has to be bred for and maintained, which the Hoover's lines are known for not being as such, so autosexing them isn't reliable.Pullet.
Looking at the "baby" picture, I'm pretty sure you have a pullet.
Please update in about 4 to 6 weeks so we can have another look. & good luck !
I thought so too! It’s confusing. But I sure will post back!Pullet.

Mine looked just like that as a chick. I emailed Hoover’s Hatchery, and they say they still think it’s a pullet. It has all the rooster traits though. It’s not old enough for saddle feathers or crowing yet, but it sure looks like a boy to me! Thank you for sharing your picture!Forgot to reply but here they were as chicks! They're from Greenfire Farms who imported and reputably breeds them so they can pretty easily be autosexed!

Aww man. Looks like you have one pullet at least. We are building another run and coop for our guy. I really wish I would’ve bought 2 so I could’ve had a chance at a female. It looks like I'm in the same boat. I got mine from TSC who gets them from HH. 5 weeks later...
Aww… I was hoping for blue eggs I will check back in a couple weeks.More than likely cockeral based on the comb. But update in 2 weeks.
