Cream Legbars

I think i will have to wait til tomorrow to tell what they are for sure when they are dry and fluffy. Im guessing with time and experience i will be able to tell almost immediately after hatch.

here are my 1st 7. They are doing well. I have 3 more pipped.

Yes I have two boys with them now. One received positive comments for his stature and structure but is high on chestnut and low on cream. He has a nice comb but a "thumbprint" indication on one side of his comb.

The other has now come into sexual maturity and while his form is still taking shape, he has less chestnut. He is less mature in this picture. He does have a small twist toward the front of his comb.

This guy was removed from breeding consideration and is being used for cross experiments.

No perfect birds but a good start especially with that one pullet.

AWwwwww you took out your best bird for experiments. i think if the 3rd roo was not talking a step in the picture it would have got just as much praise for its form as the first one did. Also the third is diluted and the first isn't. Ask people about Dilution in the golds verses none diluted and how many creams you will get. Also the first roo is almost red in its shoulders and it almost has a double point on the second to the last point. its ears a bit nicer than the third. but its saddle hackles has no dilution and the bays have way more color in them than the third. The third roo is your best bird at least it will be passing the cream gene on to those experiments so that's nice. the long road is better but also driving a bit faster helps. The third roo is your best bird. hes diluted in the saddle hackles with lots of cream color in them already, he has a better comb, it barely has any color compared to the first in the bays and his chestnut is way way lighter and more of a chestnut color rather than the red in the first. I know you probably don't want to hear it but maybe your roo choice was a bit hapless

Awesome! We really need an LGD or something for our new place, it is far enough out we know coyotes can be a problem there. How is the puppy doing with the chickens?
