Cream Legbars

And now for something completely different (cue John Cleese).

A Portrait of the Pullet as a Young, um, Pullet (cue James Joyce, rolling in his grave):

she looks so alert, she looks so intelligent. -- I was supposed to read that James Joyce book as a freshman in college...it's a wonder I passed English 101 because I never got through the book. LOL

EEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am super excited!!! I am picking up my 1st 2 CL pullets next weekend. I cant wait. SOOOOOOOOOO excited....

BB13's done a ton of work with them already. You're going to be super happy with them! So glad your guy is getting some girls!

I bought chicks from the Old Farm House folks in TX: she sent me beautiful, healthy and well packaged chicks (and 2 extra roos and pullets). All survived and have thrived. One started laying last week (20 wks) and 2 this week, 4 more to go. They are all very typy, not perfect, but much like I see on this link and just like her pictures. If I could mix and match all their qualities, I could make some perfect birds, and I think they are a good place to start. I know you have to be careful on eBay, but she's a good one to buy from!

Can anyone tell me when I can start incubating pullet eggs? They just started laying last week and their eggs are smaller than the ones I hatched them from, but getting bigger every day. Do I need to wait until they are full size? (I got a new incubator and Im so excited I can't hardly wait!) Thanks!!

I like to hatch a small number of the second week eggs (of any promising girls), just in case something happens to the adults. Got the idea from Curtis

Then I like to wait for a while to watch for mature type and egg production. 1 year + seems to be the average age recommended by show OTs.

Are Legbars pretty tame? What is their personality like? Do they like people? How well do they lay? Also how big do they get? (Couldn't find a weight online.)
I found someone locally who has some Greenfire LB pullets for $15 a piece, and since they are somewhat rare I thought I should look into them.
