Wow can't wait for my chicks to grow I love the colouring of theses chickens

i feed my bagels, a bunch and fermented feed and they lay like crazy. Probably the best layers of all the chickens I have. I turn them loose for a couple hrs to free range but give them the fermented feed, lots of bagels, cut grass and vegies, cracked corn and oyster shells.

I have found, that our Cream girls really need good protein. We had a slack off of laying, and I switch them to a super high protein food, and they finally picked up again. I used feather fixer, that really helped them.

They are certainly healthy looking, pretty girls.
X2 Really nice looking chickens. Depending on the bread- that could be the key.... Ashdoes has a very good point that feed has HUGE influence. Maybe that is why mine are burying me with eggs right now...
Therry- do your chickens also free range? or are you like me and don't want to risk it. (LIke this morning when I was cleaning the pens I swear I heard an Eagle....)

it is regular bread. And no I do not free range too worried about it

@dretd asked me a few weeks ago to share pics of what I mean by "cinnamon" tinted cream legbar male chicks. I had a male heavy hatch this week (4 female, 8 male, 2 white male) so this was a good opportunity. Take a look at the box of chicks below:

There are three "gray" chicks and five "cinnamon" tinted chicks. Two grays I would consider light (although they aren't great examples of light) and one gray I consider a dark.

THIS ^^^^ is what I call cinnamon tinted chicks. I usually cull these at hatch. They are always too colorful when grown IN MY LINE. Not saying everyone's chicks will breed and grow this way. This particular batch gets a free pass as a friend wants to take them to a Capon clinic and make them "yard art!" They will be gorgeous for what she wants!

Dark gray boy on top, borderline light gray boy on bottom.

IN MY EXPERIENCE cinnamon chicks are always too colorful. Light chicks are usually decent to great coloring, dark chicks can go either way 50/50. This may not be true for everyone's flocks but it is what I'm seeing in mine.

In other news, I finally found my camera battery charger. These are the two boys I got from breeder Lisa Helms, named Ringo and George. They are Hippy's sons.

I'm super excited to use them with Blue Band Girl, she lacks a crest but more than makes up for it in every other way. Still a great size (if the muck ever dries up I will get a scale out there), good tail (it's a little ruffled in this pic), beautiful front line, nice color, good earlobe and leg color, good wing carriage.

This cockerel is my keeper of my own breeding, he is Hugger's son. I am test mating him for blue egg gene and recessive white before I use him. I may use him anyway I just need to know what he carries. No name yet. He's young yet but has a lot going for him.
