Cream Legbars

Hi nadrojsack.

Here is a photo of Cream Legbar boys with their adopted broody mom at exactly 3 weeks of age. The one on the very left already is getting a larger pink comb and another next to him has none at all that you can see so that can vary quite a bit. They are all uniformly grey and white barred. Then a close up of one of them.

Here is what they looked like at maybe 3 days old all shades of silvery/creamy greyish tones and non have very distinct chipmunk stripes and you can see some eyeliner on the one in the upper left:

Here is a sister from the same hatch, notice how she is more tannish brown in color and has a very crisp dark brown V and dorsal stripe and crisp clear light chipmunk strips along her back that almost appear outlined in black, but she is relatively light downed overall. Next pic a basket of girls from my latest hatch. I am looking for a picture of a 3 week old girl and will post it when I find it:

ETA: Sorry nadrojsack, I couldn't find a picture of a 3 week old girl, but did turn up a pair at 4 weeks:
First one is a boy

Second one is a girl:

Ho guys can anyone tell me what sex this 3 weeks old cream legbar is please?

I'm not at all an expert but I saw more comb in my cockerels at that age and less tuft. Some of my Jill Rees chicks have a lot of barring but more salmon breast coloring. Wonder if you just have a heavily barred pullet but I would defer to the others. I'm just curious about the very tiny comb.

This is what one of our Cream Legbars gave us. It is huge! 2.5oz (73 gm). It's next to one that is more typical of what we get from them. Candled it & it's a double yolker.

Hi nadrojsack.

Thankyou so much everyone for the sexing tips, i however sold the two chicks today for a profit and am going to pick up either a 17 week or 19 week old cockeral tomorrow. However before i introduce him to my flock a quick question.

On sunday i rescued 6 battery hens, which are intergrating with my other 5 hens. Can i put this cockeral in when i get him or should i wait, how long?

Should i get the 17 week or 19 week old cockeral?

Thankyou

I personally wouldn't put them all together yet. Especially depending on the condition of your battery hens.

I like to quarantine my new chickens for at least 3 weeks. It is a stressful time and introducing new chickens that may carry things yours aren't exposed to could make them sick. In my opinion battery hens are at an even greater disadvantage and at 19 weeks old the cockerel will be interested in mating which could further stress them.
