So out of 28 eggs I had 2 healthy chicks hatch--a girl and a decently colored boy! 10% hatch rate, but they will join the 2 girls I got to hatch from Steen's eggs so now I have the start of a flockAfter an uncertain journey from Papabrooder (left CA Sat PM and went missing in the USPS system-probably on a dock in the heat baking-and showed up in Denver Tuesday am) my Cream Legbar eggs that I ordered back in February are now in the incubator.![]()
My luck with shipped eggs is really poor, but I am hoping with all of the extras he sent that it will make up for the USPS damage (ruptured air sacs and damaged chalazae). They are due to hatch on my 50th birthday so either I really will have something to celebrate or I will be having a really suck-y birthday. I'll keep y'all posted as the eggs develop....or not.
