On this chicken the wing bay is the triangular area just right and up from your circle- it is cream barred same shading as the hackles.

From what I know. The wing bay is made up of the Secondary feathers.The wing bay is the small triangle area that shows under the shoulder when the wing is folded. In Marans the Black Copper has a black wing bay and the Wheaton has a brown. If you look at that area as the male chick ages you will notice that it becomes more gold if there is gold still present in the bird. You can have a relatively light rooster with gold in the wing bay meaning it will not throw pure cream chicks all the time. This area should be a light at possible or lacking gold entirely. If you look as they grow you will see the gold start a just small speckles then widen to a fill more of the area. The less color you see there the lighter the bird will be. I have been using this too predict which male chicks will be more colorful than others for a while. .

could you or someone make it really SIMPLE? Post two and only two pictures one with a cream bay and one without.

Like I said the bay of the wing is less clear, but it should be off-white. If you are seeing a dark color hue to the triangle it is not going to be the correct cream.. The saddle feathers is the clearest place to see if you have gold or cream. It is clearly yellow in the cock on the left below and an off-white in the cockerel on the right.

Interesting... now that I think about it a lot of CL roosters look like this. Although the hackles look cream the saddle feathers and wing bay are gold tinted. IDK what this means genetically- one cream gene maybe? Another modifier?

And what about these 2 boys. Above is Jasper. His father was typical gold all the way. Jasper's Hackles are nice and light and his saddle feathers are lighter gold than his dad was. His wing bay is gold.

Below is Kisame. 3 1/2 month old cockerel. He came from Lorinda's flock. His father is a nice cream roo. His wing bay is mostly light but has specks of gold. I suspect his adult coloring will be similar to Jaspers.
