Very Cute! Unfortunately neither one is a Cream Legbar.

If they did indeed come from a CL hens egg, they were fertilized by a different breed rooster. They are likely sexlink, the one with the head spot being male (don't confuse this for the CL auto sexing trait being passed on). Do you know what type of comb the chicks are displaying? Have you contacted the seller to ask the other possibilities?

I think sex links only work when the father is barred like a CL and the mother is not. Donʻt think it works the other way around. Anyone?

Nope, the hen must be barred in order for the sex-link trait to work.

Close - but it is actually the other way around - the barred bird in a sex link equation is the female

Exactly what enola and Ol Grey Mare said.

To make a sexlink using a barred bird, the barred bird in the equation is indeed the female. If you cross a female barred hen to a non barred male (also not white) she will pass her barring gene to her sons only, giving them a head spot at hatch. The sons will grow up displaying some sort of barring on their adult feathers. Daughters of this cross get no barring gene and will typically display characteristics like her fathers coloring.

A double barred male such as the Cream Legbars males if used will pass on a barring gene to both sons and daughters giving them both head spots at hatch and both will display a degree of barring on their adult feather.

However Male CLs can be used to create a Red Sexlink. Since CL are gold based you can use a CL male crossed to a Silver based female to get a Red Sexlink that at hatch you can sex by the color of the down(not head spots)

If I was to breed a Cream Legbar Roo to a Rhodebar Hen the resulting offspring will be Autosexing at hatch? I think I read that if both birds are autosexing the the resulting hatch will be too? I assume the eggs from that breeding would be a light green? I have two Rhodebar pullets I could not resist but no Roo..I figured I could use a culled CL roo to breed them unless I come across a good Rhodebar roo. Only if they can be sexed at hatch ..if not I will not try it.

Looks like a dark roo to me. I had one in my last hatch.

In the bottom right picture he is the top right. The other picture were taken today at 2.5 weeks old.

Just my thoughts..I am so new to the breed atm and learning lots! Congrats on your hatch! I have 10 more days left on my second hatch..ugh.

No, thank you much for your thoughts. My friend got a dark one also. We are waiting to see what they turn out to be! I have legbars, but these are my first chicks.
