I think it really helped that I culled the roosters that were so light in color. I only kept the darker gray ones with cream. I really wish I could get good pictures of them. At the same time, who knows. I could always end up with wonky colors in the next batch. Lol So, we will see.
Congratulations on the chicks! I didn't get any yellow ones and I have a bigger flock of them (11 females with my main male and I'm considering putting half in one pen with one rooster and half in another pen with another rooster I like). I wonder if it is truly yellow or if you have some of the lighter genetics going on. Please keep us posted when you hatch more!
It truly looks yellow. Male chicks from my other CL flock often hatch very blonde, this chick is very very yellow compared to the blonde males I also have in the incubator. I haven't gotten one like this before. I think I see slightly darker yellow chipmunk markings and maybe my eyes are tricking me but I think I can make out a V on the head and eyeliner, maybe a pullet? I will be pulling these first 13 out tonight to put in the brooder I will try my best to get a few pics of them.
I have them separated by bloodlines in the incubator and I was going to zip tie their legs according to who they belong to but DH thinks we should use a sharpie nail polish of food coloring to make it easier. Anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on this?
