Cream Legbars

Nice! How old is he?

Are all Legbar Roos agressive??? I saw that it was part of their behavior.I just wanted to double check.
Mine aren't old enough to tell yet, The person I got mine from said her's are not aggressive. I'm hoping mine are good boys. If not, I'll have to try and get some more.

This is my 6 wk old male.

This is my 4 wk old male.

My youngest has a straighter comb. I'm hoping both of them have good attitudes.

Mine is 7 months old and he is really aggressive towards me and especially my young girls. I want to try and rehome him and get another one that's not aggressive. I was hoping that making him stand down would help but it doesn't work. He is still like that. Makes me sad. :hit. I had since he was 2 weeks old.

I'm currently in class but I'll be back in a few hours to post pictures of my new baby!

She's from Secret Hills Ranch in Norco, CA and is a Rees line Cream Legbar.

I'm also purchasing one from the Curtis Hale line that will be here next week so I can see the differences for myself!

Will keep you guys updated with both of them as soon as the other one gets to me on Monday/Tuesday! :)

This group (Cream Legbar, Splash Isbar, 2 French Lavender Marans) was the first that I've ever ordered via mail and
considering that I only have 4 in a box and only 1 died - I deem it very successful!
One of the Lavender Marans did not make the journey but the other three chicks are lively and just gorgeous!

I highly recommend Secret Hills Ranch!

They were shipped in a nice box, with shavings, Gro-Gel, and a heat pack.
I live only three hours away but we all know how shipping is, so it was overnight.. I guess the little guy/girl just couldn't handle it.

Like I said, I'll be back to post pictures of my Cream Legbar!

I can already see the difference of quality between the two.
* My other one, who passed away last night due to my mother letting my dog out, even though I've warned her countless times that he must be supervised with them.. Anyways, he played too roughly and when I found the chick she was still with ants all over her. As I picked up the other four chicks (two Blue Silkies, Light Brahma, and a Red Laced Blue Wyandotte) to bury, the little Cream Legbar peeped so I quickly killed all the ants, put her in a shoebox with shavings, Save-A-Chic water, and blended fermented feed. She was getting better until I stupidly decided to feed her last night.. She started to do this motion like she was trying to chirp but no sound came out.. I had no idea what was going on so I went to google it.. by the time I figured out she was choking it was too late.. I feel like a terrible person since I am literally the reason why she died.. I will never forgive myself.. She could've made it but I was too inexperienced and foolish to have thought I could feed her.. The only upside from this is 1) my mother will never let my dog out again 2) I know now that to syringe feed a chick, it's best to dribble it on your finger and let them drink accordingly since I had syringe fed her once before and she willingly gobbled everything up just fine. Sorry for the long story, I'm still extremely broken from losing 5 chicks (2-3 weeks) that I had since they were 1-3 days old.

The one that passed away was from Chickens Galore which is a kind of hatchery/the guy that said he got his stock from someone in San Diego 30 years ago while acting suspect about it.

As promised, here are the pictures!!

As a bonus here are the other two! I don't want to hijack the thread so pay no mind to them.. I'm just excited and thought I would share

For what it's worth, I have two "of age" CLB roosters. Both are between a year and a year and a half old. Both have shown some aggression... the younger ones, about 7 months are just fine so far. Mostly the two older ones charge me when I am not looking at them... sneak up behind me and act like they are bigger than they truly are. I also had a Black Copper Maran who was aggressive and now have a Partridge Penedesenca who has been aggressive. All of them, I chase until I catch them. Then, I hold them under one arm, holding their wings down so they can not flap. Then, with my other hand, I grab them by the neck and shake their neck so their head wobbles a bit... it isn't a hard shake, just a "I am bigger than you are" and stronger too type of shake. I also yell at them to knock it off, and call them dirty words. I repeat this if they come after me again... and again. It has worked very well with all but the BCM. He was much more aggressive even though he was the same age. I still watch to make sure they are not running up behind me as I turn and leave their pens. Just a stare is enough to deter their actions now. Birds are not dumb by any means. I was able to break my Derbian Parakeet from biting me by sticking him under the running kitchen faucet. All I had to do was walk in that direction and he would let go of my hands. He was a brat in the beginning, but soon was my best pal.

I had a big long legged coyote after a chicken dinner tonight at dusk. He left town in a hurry when I slid open the sewing room sliding glass door. One hen lost some feathers, but, she was fine when she finally came out of the weeds. A lot shaken up, but running like furry to get inside for the night. Guess the days out grazing are going to have to be cut shorter so I can watch them closer. Luckily my Jack Russells gave me warning that something was up. They were raising a bigger ruckus than they normally do and jumping higher in their runs. Man, can those guys jump high from a stand still. Their noses must have been at least 4.5' off the ground judging by how high they were in comparison to the 6' tall chain link fences
.

AS far as roosters are concerned, I guess they are a bit like my dogs. Brassy, but needed to know who the boss around here is... and who feeds them!

How did you handle him when he was young? Did you pick him up a lot or let him do his thing? Sometimes I don't think it matters how you handle them, they are going to turn out good or bad regardless.

What line is yours from? He's a lot lighter than mine and has a bigger comb. Mine are from GFF first lines, not the latest Rees line.

As promised, here are the pictures!!

One of mine had markings like yours, kinda broken along the V line. Here she is at the top left of the pic. (click on pic to make larger) It will be interesting to see how they both turn out.

I hope mine aren't aggressive. If they are, I'll just have to get some more cockerels and try again. Since aggression is inherited, I really don't want to have that in my CLBs.

Same question, how were your's raised? Hands off, or hands on?

I have a Jack-Rat, and he can really jump! Someone dumped him off on our road when he was around a year old. I caught him on my back porch one night. I eased the door open and hollered at him. That dog jumped straight up at least 5' off the ground! I died laughing! Make a long story short, he stayed and has made one of the best dogs I have ever had. He is now 3, and I love him to death. Since he is part Rat Terrier, he has an "off" button. He is not go, go, all the time. He loves to cuddle. :)
