Crippled chicken

Aw, Zane looks happy there. He is very intently watching out for his "family".

Zane and my girl would be two peas in a pod!

you have such a good chicken!

My little crippled chicken is still doing her duty. Every night when I go out, she is covering the babies as best as she can.

awwww Nella you got a keeper there. She seems so in her element with those babies.

Cyn...I just love Zane what a sweet big ole gorgeous boy he is.

I too have cripple girl. I've tried no to baby her, I figure if she makes it, that's great. And to my surprise she did! She's 4 1/2 months and one foot with spraddle, or a slipped tendon, which the bandaid worked for awhile but as she grew it was harder and harder to keep on her, plus all of the sudden the toes on the good foot curled from bieng pulled on I guess. Over the months I've tried different homemade prosethsis for her and while they do help her walk they always come off.
You've encouraged me with your girl because I just tell everyone she'll be a good broody. And sure enough when the new babies came she wanted right in with them. The odd thing is no bugs her, in fact I see others helping her get going straight.

Any larger, long term prosthesis suggestions would really help. I've really been ashamed to post about her because it's hard to watch her half fly have run but she's getting around. I'd just like to make it easier for her.
