Crippled hands - no joke ....help please

my BFF's dad has that in his lungs...its really sad and he has to be on steroids...cud u give me some more info on this i really want to help out my friend.

I had it in my lungs and heart and was arthritic in most of my joints because of it. I went to a nutritionist and told her my theory that this autoimmune disease is basically an immune system out of wack, getting it balanced through vitamins might help. I increased zinc especially, but took all kinds of different vitamins and eliminated processed food. I, also, did my best to cut down on stress.
I found that my symptoms were relieved when I took the vitamins, but, came back if I missed a day or two.
After 2 years, I was given a clean bill of health. I still avoid as much stress as possible and try to take vitamins regularly. If I get a cold, I up my zinc for awhile to boost my immune system.

Sarcoidosis can go into remission spontaneously so I can't be sure that boosting my nutrition was the key.
Good luck,
Dale-Ann

My daughter suffered with TMJ dysfunction. I'd like to recommend Dr. Ira Klemmons in NJ. He has helped people from all over the world. My daughter's treatment did not progress as quickly as he would have liked and he found out she had a magnesium deficiency. It has been years since she had any symptoms.

all these posts about vitamin deficiencies make sense to me - one of the side effects of eating organic is you get lots more vitamins as non-organic soils are depleted - you can find studies of the lack of vitamins and minerals in conventional produce, for example.

Be careful taking antiinflammatories, WILL end up causing gastric problems. Learned the hard way on that one. I had steroid injection in my hand thursday. Can't tell it's helped at all. He did give me a cream that must be filled at a compounding pharmacy, not walmart, CVS. It's keptoprofen. I use it on my hands 3 x day and used a little on myneck also. (I have 4 vertebra fused.) Helped my neck!
3,000 mil of fish oil daily and 8 ounces of black cherry juice 2X day have helped relieve several aches and pains.
I can't do without the cherry juice.
Reduce red meat intake, try to purchase organic meats, they taste better and are much better for you than store bought.
I sincerly hope you find the right combo for your problem, It's tough having pain in your hands. You have to use them, there's no way out of that.
Prayers your way.

If it is rheumatoid arthritis, you will want to take what they give you to hopefully put it back in remission. It's no fun, but rheumatoid can cause permanent damage to joints/bones. You don't want to mess around with unproven methods when time is a factor. Anti-inflammatories will reduce the symptoms (swelling), but it won't touch the underlying issue - the body's immune system attacking the joints/bones.

My DH has psoariac arthritis, it developed in his late 20's. He ended up taking methotrexate (yukky chemo drug) and it did knock the arthritis into remission. Almost ten years later, it's coming back in one of his thumbs, but you can bet we made an immediate appointment with a rheumatologist. We feel very lucky to have had 10 years of remission. I hated him having to take such a nasty medication, but we owe the use of his knees to them.

He grew up with very healthy eating habits, all fresh homemade foods. But, genetics was not on his side with this. Out of his 3 siblings, 2 have autoimmune disorders.

Thank each and every one of you.... I'm just so thankful for all the caring and advice...........Please let me share the steps I've taken and some of the changes have been really fast!

I confess that I eat too much sugar and too many potato chips...(I love baking and sharing and my comfort foods are these 2 groups..........Well I'm basically off of chips, unless I cook them myself from our own potatoes....I've tapered way down on sugar

No baking for a while here, unless it's 1/2 whole wheat and sweetened only with our raw honey.

No more fast foods......We have veggies and a farm, I just need to cook more and use more of our veggies.....

The copper bracelet shared by lockedheart worked welll............but I almost crashed my laptop, it kept turning off after about 15 minutes of typing.............LOL Hubby told me what was wrong before I fried the memory on the computer....Sigh...

But I wear it while I'm working and it certainly eases the pain....I don't understand how it works but it does.

I've given up my diet sodas........ I don't know why but this is really seeming to make a big difference. Water, juice and milk work. We do have milk goats, so I'm uping my intake of milk products, particularly the buttermilk, yogurt and kefir......When I did this, this also was remarkable.

I had cortisone shots in both hands....absolutely no difference. Which surprised me but perhaps, this issue is more dietary than I realized. I'm also keeping a fire going in the wood stove and when it's too cold or wet outside taking breaks, warming the hands and then going back out. The animals must think I'm nuts, because I stop at the point of the freezing pain and just head for the house. It takes longer to do what I need to do, but that's okay.

I've gotten an appointment next week with a well known rheumatologist and I hope the group will be able to ferret through the information and symptoms and see what's going on. I may try to see an allergists as well to see if I have any kind of triggers in the food or environment.

Thanks again for all the love and advice. May God bless each of you richly.

Nancy,
Try to wear the bracelet anytime you are not on the computer, you are supposed to wear it 24/7 but do the best you can. Glad it is making a difference.

Nancy, I'm so sorry to hear you have been going through this. I'm just now finding this thread and happy to see your last post where you said a change in diet is helping immediately because that is exactly what I was going to suggest.

When we moved here two years ago I had been suffering for several months from allergies (when I had never in my life had allergies); asthma (with horrible attacks - again never had it before in my life); and awful joint pain to where my fingers would lock up so bad at night I would scream out if I tried to move them in my sleep, like when reaching for the covers or to turn over. Went to local doctor who couldn't find anything wrong. Over this past year all symptoms have gone away. What did I change? We no longer eat out except rarely and then real food/real restaurants (but then again, I never did do fast food but we used to eat out most meals) AND I eat from our garden almost every day - fresh greens and raw veggies and fresh salads. I grow everything organic - no pesticides, herbicides, fungicides or even fertilizers.

I was also going to suggest giving up any diet drinks - those things are pure poison (luckily I never did drink them - can't stand the taste) - or sodas - and replace with fresh goat milk and water.

So, in my case, I believe the constant physical work combined with eating all the fresh, raw veggies, eggs, and fresh goat milk really "cured" me - that and the grace of God. I'm glad I've got three new mama goats because now I can go back to getting the fresh goat milk daily - I haven't had any in a few months and I can tell the difference in how I feel.

I pray you'll be fit as a fiddle soon.

Sounds like you need to look into Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Both my daughters have it. I found this thread because at 43 I suddenly have the worst arthritis in my hands that I can barely stand. My feet have been bad for years, but now my hands and wrists are excruciating. Thought I might find some good info and some company in my misery
