Let's see. 1977. I was married with a 7 yr. old and a 3 yr. old.

I have some crochet booklets that were my grandmother's. Do not have dates on them but are very low number and sold for 10 cents. They are very fragile and tattered. My mother thinks they are from the '20s and '30s. Which are older than me! LOL

I need to get out my crocheting and make some more doillies and other items to put back for Christmas gifts.. I finally gave away all I had made up this past Christmas.. I also like to make close pen angels for the christmas tree .. they are a little teadious though.. got put that on my to do list.. I used to crochet constantly . I have a ton of patterns for booties etc I haven't even gotton to try yet. Hopefully when my two boys who are 18 and 22 finally get girl friends and get married I'll get grand kids then whooo I'll be at it again. LOL They are both in college right now so marriage and grand kid can wait a while..

Our lady bird went to town with us in the car. She loved going with us anywhere. She even rode the mower. You should have seen the expression on the grocery guy that helps us take our groceries to the car. priceless

I finally have gotten some of the newer ones ( like I can keep up with all the chicks I have, in fact, some hatching right now!) I finally have been able to keep them in the house long enough, so they are really social. I'm planning on taking one with me to the pet store. They know all about my birds, but it would still flip people in the store! "What kind of parrot is that? What! Not a parrot!"

Those are awesome! I need to get some more cotton yarn. I have been using some acrylic scraps, but I am just about done with acryllic yarn altogether. Beautiful painting too!!!

Got a question for you all!? 1.What is your favorite type of yarn? When I first started I used the acrylic yarn with all the bright colors, but now I am getting to the point where I cant stand the 'feel' of it (scratchy) (ok I am weird) and I also think it is hard to make a good looking stitches with it. It seems to bunch up and stick..
I like the soft caron yarn but I wish it were a bit thicker. I like the cotton peaches and cream yarn. And I have tried some partial wool lionbrand I really like.

I like the jiffy lionbrand a lot(really soft).

Well 2 questions!? 2. What methods are you all using to 'finish off' and change colors? I had been tyingk knots and now I know that is wrong. Does the stuff ever fray? Does anybody use glue to secure it? OK that was a weird question.

I sure wish I could crochet. My grandmother tried to teach me many times, but she was left handed and it confused me. I want to make some dish cloths. I buy them at the craft fair and love them.

you could learn sara

It's not as hard as it seems. There are how to videos on youtube that teach you how.

Scoot I feel your pain. This morning they said our stuff would be starting to taper off this afternoon, but this after noon they said it would be going strong into the PM...and it is. Just waves and waves of sleet, ice and snow keep coming. I have to say that I really enjoy the white blanket on the ground though. This is the first winter precip we've had all season. And this is the first season that we have had snow in our new house with our AWESOME!!!! Hill that we can sled down....I think I may have to give it a shot tomorrow.

I don't really know how to explain changing colors well but I can try. I finish the stitch all except for the very last loop of the stitch, then wrap the other color around my hook (yarn over, YO) and pull it through that last remaining loop of the last stitch. Then the stitch is complete and the color is changed. As for weaving in ends...I think you asked about that....I take a large sewing needle, and just weave the ends through the back posts of the stitch so that it hides the string, and they stay...That's how I do it. Someone else may do it better, and may have a better explanation of the changing colors too

That is the best story ever I think!!!

sk,

It didn't even occur to me that I could take my chicken to the pet store...I know you can take pets into them...just didn't think about taking one of my chickens with me! I have a little D'Uccle that would be perfect for the trip!! She's a real sweet pea.
