Crochet "Chat"

Great story, Smitty!

I did go through a TON of tutorials. I learn by watching. The reading stresses me out. LOL. But the past few days I did test patterns to make sure I was doing it right. I made a crochet rose and a bunch of tiny flowers in different colors. I decided I had the motions down, so I wanted to try making a scarf. I had this really pretty black and grey extremely soft wooly yarn and well I started my, well my Mom's scarf. It took me 2 hours to produce my first piece of work. It came out awesome! It's a chunky crinkle scarf. I looked at it and I was so happy that I made it that I added tassles to the end and one flower on each end. My Mom liked it and took it with her to Dallas for the Cowboys game. So now I'm going to make my grandma one.

I didn't even get a picture. Lol

I did run into a slight issue with the beanie project. I looked through a bunch of videos and couldn't find one that I could understand. Either they didn't have the camera at the right angle or they went entirely too fast. I know this is a shot in the dark, but can someone here make a video of you making a beanie so I can see. I really want to make some for the kiddos and cancer patients.

Thanks.

Jen & Kavaji ~ Thank you!

Kavaji I had issues trying to make beanies last year. My first attempt ended up looking like Lil Red Riding Hood's Grandma's bedcap.

Keep trying. If you can make a scarf, I'm sure you can make a beanie. Maybe you just need to try a different pattern.

I'd love to be able to make some to donate to cancer patients as well, but still learning how to finesse them to give to family members & friends as gifts first. I just made a few and I look at them and wonder if my friends and family members will like them and want to wear them. Would you like me to send you the beanie pattern that Jen shared with me? It was much easier to follow than the patterns I had. I had to really concentrate on round 1-5, b/c they are different stitches, but after round 6 you are home free w/ the same stitches to finish it off. Thanks again Jen!!!

I've crocheted my girls a couple different pokemon, made a mario brothers Bombomb, made a regular bomb and have made several hacky sacks/foot bags for them to play with.

Smitty:

Sure, I'll take a look at the pattern. I will give it my best shot.

Orloof:

Those sound like fun projects. I would love to make my kids the Mario Bomb beanies.

Yes, send patterns for beanies and I will definitely try my best to get them going.

Thanks.

Smitty's Farm: Your so right about them first 5 rounds on the beanie pattern, think it took me a weekend to get it right, I was addin a stitch each round and stuff. But once you learn it, its easy.

Ok, I've finished my baby afgan for my niece but I made a real bad decision. It was real late actually wee hours in the morning when I finished and instead of weaving all the yarn ends from changing colors in I knotted them and cut them off !!!!

I tried weaving them in with the hook and it didn't work so I knotted and cut. I know I should have used a needle and woven them in right? I haven't crocheted for years and never did learn the proper way to tie off etc.

So I have heard that to keep the knots from unraveling you can put glue on them?????

Any suggestions. I made several knots, and yes you cand feel they are knots (stupid me) so I'm not overly concerned that they will unravel but just in case is there something I can do to help prevent it.

I'm thinking they may come undone when she washes it.

Thanks much
