Well, since we're all posting pics of our afghans... Here's my wip. It is 2 strand with an m hook. Each stripe takes just over an hour...

Looks great! I think two color afghans look striking when one color is a cream/white and the other is a primary color.

I have the lapghan together with one row of HDCs run all the way around. Do you think it needs more border than that? I have no idea.

Yes, in my opinion. I once did a granny square afghan out of many colors like you did, and the only way I could make it all come together was by incorporating some of the colors into the border. If it were mine, I would put a few rows of some of the colors to tie it all together, or even some shells or something... it is looking great!

I think I will put a bit more of a border around. It does seem to need even if just to stabilize the edges. Thanks!

When I do squares with different styles/yarns I usually do a DC or two row around and then put a SC row as the last one. The DC is more flexible and covers any size differences

That's one reason I didn't do a single, but a HDC, as the first one. I don't see how anyone can get two blocks exactly the same, plus the stretch as you handle them, etc. I may do a row of DC, then end with a single of another color. I have a very light green that was used in some blocks plus what they called a cool green, a sort of blue green a different shade than the dark teal of the first edging of HDCs. I'll run the soft light green around first, then decide about the final border.

Last page: I agree with the chocolate. Actually Red Heart "Espresso" might be just a shade darker than chocolate, but I really like that color. Small doses of apple green might work with it also. Small doses.

The boarders I am doing around the flower blocks are in hdc. White, black, and colored. I am making progress on it, and I am really loving how it is turning out so far.

Here is the sampler one with the border finished. I am having spasms about the edges being a bit wavy--quilting is much more exact; I mean, the final product doesn't usually stretch, lol. But, I did doubles in Soft Green (which is a minty pale color), then singles in the Pagoda, the dark teal.

ETA: I just realized I did the entire border with the wrong size hook, ack! These blocks are done with a 5 mm and I was working on the other afghan with my 6.5mm, so natural mistake, but that might explain the slight wavy tendency on one corner. Sooo, do I pull out that entire border and do it over again, will it make that much difference?

If you are doing a DC around, use TC for the parts where the two squares connect. That gives a bit more length where the squares are shortest and allows the remaining rows to be even. I would leave this one like it is because it looks great! For the next one, if you do your first round in HDC then do DC where the squares join. The next row will be even and the dips where the squares join will look like you planned it that way
