Crochet "Chat"

I tried a new hat pattern from Red Heart and though it called for bulky yarn and a 10 mm hook, I didn't have the bulky stuff, so used RH Soft, which is worsted weight, and a 6.5 mm hook. The hat, as written, was supposed to be either sm-med or med-lg ladies adult, depending on which instructions you did and I used the larger ones in parentheses, however, with my adjustments, it ended up being preschool size, lol! Will probably fit ages 4-7 or so, I believe. Cute, but not what I expected. The instructions do work and the hat is easy to do, with a horizontally lined brim that turns up.

ETA: The top of the hat is RH Soft in Vanilla Swirl and the brim is Deborah Norville Everyday for Premier in Caramel, which coordinate very well. I like both these acrylics. Some folks are real yarn snobs for only natural fibers, it seems, but I prefer a nice yarn that doesn't require super special care. Just my preference. And I can afford most of them, which isn't the case with the other stuff at the hoity toity shops I've been in. Wow, those prices just slay me.

Made this for my SIL., who is the one who put a hook in my hand last holiday season and started the crochet hobby for me. She said then that we'd make scarves for each other this year and so I just did hers today with some discount yarn I found at Hobby Lobby yesterday. This is the Serenity Chunky yarn and I did a shell pattern cowl since she said she likes pink or baby blue. I had done a baby blue one, but I put it in our store at Blue Roo and did this one instead.

This one is not chunky yarn but is very wide, about 10-11", would have to check the store listing to see. It's really comfy, though, which made it hard to put it up for sale, though I'm not a baby blue fan, personally.

and my latest goof up by using a too large hook and having to do decrease upon decrease....a beanie became slouchy beret and DH can't wear this so anyone want a beret? LOL.

The crown is some variegated chunky yarn in foresty-woodland colors I had. Used every bit I had, then went to the Yarn Bee Tender Touch in Dove, which looks like mohair. DH's scarf I made is in that gray heather color yarn-had to make one for him to replace what the cleaners ruined by drycleaning a non-drycleanable acrylic. I think that yarn on the crown is what was left from the scarf they ruined, to be honest.

Got a tip for you all if you have an ear ring that you have lost the mate to you can use it as a stitch marker

I wish I could have just a basket for my WIPs, I seem to have hookers ADD, lol. I have to keep a tub just for them.

Started the piglet a few days ago but got frustrated with attaching his legs so he got put in time out!

This is one of the other WIPs that's in with him... got bored with it but still work on it every so often... thankfully no one is waiting for it to get done

Looks REALLY bright in the pics but it's easier on the eyes in person.
