Crochet "Chat"

YES, it did! I just can't show pics until the end of the week when we get the new modem.

Hello!

I joined BYC back in 2009, but had to get rid of my too-large flock (I got carried away...)

I have been battling depression, and my husband told me he thought I should get a few hens again, because they were the one hobby that I truly loved... well, until I learned how to crochet, that is...

I am currently working on the "Lion Brand" baby ripple afghan for my cousin who is expecting a baby girl soon. I chose to do it in white with pink and bright green stripes. It's turning out really nice!

It is nice to be back on BYC again. I don't know too many people who love to raise chickens and crochet, so it's nice to have an online forum to "meet" people that have the same likes that I do.

Welcome back! I post on here occasionally.... :) we're always glad to have new/returning people on here! Since everyone is rippling these days, I'll try to post my finished blanket.

Waaahhhhh! No it is still getting wider! It's 4" wider than at the beginning and I'm only halfway through. Why doesn't anyone tell you in the patterns how to deal with this? I'm about to consider this a huge yarn loss and just toss it in the trash. I still can't upload pics.

If it is a chevron pattern, hdc the last two together, ch 1, skip first st and continue pattern.

The pattern that you are using, Is it from a book? If it is, look it up on the internet to see if there are corrections to it. I have that happen a few times where there were typos, or left out yarn overs, etc.
Or if that ripple pattern is just too frustrating, Find a new one. Crochet should not make you cuss and no one wants you to start throwing crochet hooks around

It's from someone's site. I've used her patterns before. This one is an irregular chevron type pattern, this one:

Finally, I went back to the page and read the comments. Others were having the same trouble as me so I don't feel so dumb, but I should have read the comments b4 I did it twice and frogged it twice, LOL. It just didn't seem right to leave so many stitches at the end of each row simply not done. Now, her answer to the other folks says that the edges will appear rippled, while the photo does NOT appear that way to me. I guess since I'd used her patterns before, even a ripple one, with no trouble, I didn't think to check to see if there was trouble in the pattern had by other crocheters. Now, it's several balls of yarn and I don't think I'll do it again. Might stick to a regular ripple pattern. I like the ripple/wave afghans and was doing this in my high school colors, which happen to be the colors of the high school my sons graduated from (different school than me, different county, same state), orange and blue (or mango and iris, per Red Heart With Love color names).
