I am a 34 year old born again farmer, started when a was in the womb and ended with my parents separation when I was around 7. Knitting and crocheting, also sewing were apart of that time. I want to get back to these arts/crafts. I am a beginner, obviously. Anyone got any basic starting points?
Never apologize for many posts and pictures it's okay by me. I don't think many others mind either.
Funny--one of my nurses and I were talking crochet and she's been making hooded scarves. She was going to bring me an extra pattern book but kept forgetting, so she's going to mail it to me. Now I come on here and see pics--they look no nice. With my bald head, a hood will be nice to have. The hats leave a space around the back of the head and I still get cold sometimes. This looks like a great solution.
On mine, I used two strands with an M hook for the scarf. All I did was half double crochets going into the cross stitch on the back. Then for the hood, I used three strands while still using the M hook. I chained 15, then crocheted into the scarf where it would connect, then chained 15 again. Then I just did half double crochets to the top of the hood. To finish it, I folded the front sides of the hood in and sewed it to make it twice as thick framing my face. Finally I just folded the hood in half and sewed along the top! These are easy because you can customize it however you would like.Funny--one of my nurses and I were talking crochet and she's been making hooded scarves. I'll keep the two strands in mind. So, 2 strands of 4 yarn makes a 5? Or more like a 6? I've really not used bulky yarns much so I'm not familiar with the thickness.

YouTube! Seriously though. Start watching some videos and find the user that fits your learning style. Also, I would start on a simple scarf to get the rhythm. Good luck and welcome!
