Crochet "Chat"

ake a needle and yarn and hoop stitch around the top of brim, fasten off

Then at the bottom of the rimm, going towards head...
Then do about 9 rounds of single crochet in front loop around. Increasing here and there with regularity till it looks right. Then all you have left is the brim.


You will have to make adjustments to this if it gets too wrinkly probably not so many increases and if its too small more increases.

Post pics and I will come up with a brim,,,If I have time I might crochet one.

For the ridge to appear I think you need to do a row of hdc working from the back, then a row of sc then a row of hdc, you might try that. Most patterns are worked from the front, but some types of patterns call for working from the back.

I just realized I forgot to put some words in the directions above! OOOPS

HDC crochet is worked from the back, then the sc is worked from the front and then the 2nd hdc is worked from the back again and then resume the regular pattern.

What about somehow doing a front post/back post type stitch? I know those make vertical bars, but perhaps some variation of that?? When I get home, I'll give it a shot & let you know...

Edit: I just went back & looked at the picture again. What about a reverse dc?

wow all that crochet lingo made my brain hurt. You guys impress me sooo much.
I had to get off my feet I've been standing at my easel for hrs.

L&Schickens said I could use her picture of sarge (Serama Roo) as inspiration
for a painting so I've been sketching and blocking. It's at the coloring book stage but I think It's going to come out ok in the end. If I can get all the paint off me I'm going to work on my squares tonight. I can't paint at night caue DH didn't put in my track lighting yet. I'll have to hint around about it when he gets home.

Just checking in to say

I've been working on chicken diapers for 2 days and just finished them and I have an order for 2 more.

My laundry and housework have been put on off so off I go. YIppee.
