Crochet "Chat"

Naw, you're not crazy, you're just being snookered! First one emu, then two, then a whole bunch of them. Next thing he'll want some ostriches!

I know some people were making money out of raising emus, plus if memory serves me right, they will stomp a coyote or stray dog if they think it is threatening it's buddies.

Their eggs can be blown out and carved for decorations. Their meat is often substituted for beef in low fat diets, and their leather (or skin) is used in belts, hats, boots and shoes.

As Chuck said. get it! They are gorgeous! THey have wonderful fluffy feathers. Remember, rich people buy them. Same with peacock feathers.. $3 a piece! can ya believe that! ANywoo... they can tend to be mean (watch dirty jobs) but they are worth it!
Grab it by the neck, lean the head down, put a sock on it, and you can lead it anywhere you want. If ya dont, It will fight and kick the tar outta you! THe nails on them can and will rip a mans stomach in two, Catch it the right way!!!

Well first I'm thing that meat of a pet....

Yea...just like the chickens. We started with the 2 that my daughter hatched in her kindengarten class and now look at us. We have 34 spoiled rotten chickens who need back rubs.

I don't have any predators wanting at my chickens or I have "fort Knox".

I would like to set the emu loose on a few neighborhood dogs.

That would be funny!

I love dirty jobs! I watched that one. What ever happened to the nice friendly emus? .... or was that just my fantasy.

Boy Lovemychix,

I sure wished you would have been making your chicken diapers when I had Ms Cluck in the house.
hu.gif
She is my injuried Cuckoo Marans pullet. She would follow me around in the house, I could call her and she would come running to me, (in her crocked little leg way)
roll.png
I had her to where she would potty on newspaper (most of the time) still had to do the disinfectant wipe cleanup once in a while.
tongue.gif
Rocket try this one with Cha Cha I would hold up a cracker about waist high and she would jump and take it.
gig.gif
All I had to do was say Chick chick she would come and I show her the cracker. Jump and have it in her beak. Tell her to clean up and she made sure the crumbs were eaten
clap.gif
But allas she has been assemalated (sp?) back with a smaller group of Cuckoo Marans with my favorite Roo Schultzie and 3 other Marans hens. Any way, ya can teach a chicken tricks
clap.gif
. She still follows me outside and likes to be petted.

Karan: my daughter taught Lady to jump through a hula hoop for a treat. The town ladies requested that she take her trick doing chicken to the Jamboree talent contest and she was the hit of the Jamboree. She was even in the paper. Lady jumped for grapes and did fetch with no return.

I had to take a break from the thread and was just now able to catch up. Though with how busy things are getting around here, I'm not too sure I will be able to keep up all the time. We have so many appts with the kids that our week is so full and it feels like we don't get time to take a deep breath! I may have to do fly-by postings more than anything

As far as the tornadoes go, I'm pretty sure scoot was in the clear with them. I think they died out or went further east before they got to her. I don't know for sure where in OK Maw lives, so I can't say for sure if they had anything or not. But I do know that they areas that have been hit were being talked about significantly on the news. And those Places are Lone Grove Ok(That was the deadly night tornado that was an F-4 half a mile wide) The other ones were in NW OKC and Edmond and I think up by Ponca City. That ones out of viewing area though, so once they go out of our viewing area, they go to the Tulsa News Stations.

Thank you for all of the love and concern everyone! It really is appreciated. I have a hard time with tornadoes because of the F-5 we had here in 1999. I must have Post traumatic stress disorder or something lol I had some things that I wanted to say to everyone individually, to respond to their posts, but I don't know if I will get back to them or not...10 pages worth of posts to go through. I should have tabbed it!

To all in Oklahoma with the worry of the tornados

I saw the footage and it looked aweful, they said one was on the ground for 1/2 hour.

I was in one whene I was 3 years old and can still remember the fear

I am sorry again about Lady lovemychix

I know it hasnt been that long,,,,,,the good ones always seem to be here for a short time

My dog Tiffy died 3 years ago and I was inconsolable(sp?) for at least a year,,,I wanted to forget,,,then I wanted to not forget,,,,, She was a Vizsla and an awesome dog,,,,,she had been in a kennel for 5 years outside and when I got her she was hard to housetrain but after that she was just the best dog,,,,and so gentle, even after that hard life she had in her younger years. ETA: I can only recently be able to look at pictures of Vizslas (like in my avatar) with out going totally bonkers. I will never forget her though.

risurocket as long as you only have one spoiled one thats ok. I guess I have just hit my limit of spoiled birds here and I am stressed about it. Hopefully later today they will be in their new quarters outside. (Still cleaning it)

I want to get it really tip top before I put them out there. But they are driving me nuts right now. I fell asleep with a cage open and half the chickens not fed. I just woke up a little while ago and am finishing up,,, hopefully I can get back to sleep.

Sylvester my black silkie needs to be put down but I dont have enough courage to do it. I guess I may have to take him to my friend and he can do it for me.
