Crockpot (slow cooker) incubator - take 2

Pics
Day 10
I removed egg S4(solid egg number 4), the quitter I identified yesterday. There’s not much to see inside, just mostly yolk and a tiny clear gelatinous blob. it appears to have quit on day 2 or 3.

Broody is left with 3 eggs now. S1, S5 and S6.

S6 is a nice dark speckled egg which unfortunately also does not appear to be developing :(

When I candled the eggs, I feel like the air cells are larger on the pot eggs (P1-P6, P for porous, lol)... hmm...Should have weighed the eggs before I started 😅

Humidity has been mostly upper 40s, so I guess I’m kind of doing a dry incubation?

Oh great, now my sister wants one!:lau

Glad to hear that the crockpot eggs are doing well!
(it is amazing how you achieved that!)
I believe incubating on a waterbed actually provides a more stable incubation environment for the chicks than most of the cheaper incubators out there. It's probably one of the better ways to incubate for under $50... Thermostat $25 + second hand crockpot $5-$10 +govee thermometer $10.

I read it's better for humid environments than dry ones, but humidity can most likely be controlled with a bit of creativity.

After this batch I plan on hatching some quails. I really want some blue eggs, but apparently they don't really breed true, so I might just settle for the regular coturnix or jumbo coturnix...

(By the way, @yakitori, I sent a letter to an author who lives in NY, she writes a favorite manga of mine, I have the whole series.)
Yo, you can't just write all that without telling me what manga it is!

Now I do too!
Shall we make a Dookie Lover's Club? XD
