Hey Guys,

How is everybody's day going?
I made this thread for a few reasons, please read the following.

I:
  • Am a bit bored.
  • Love hearing your opinions on cross-breeding.
  • Have many things going on in my head, ideas and thoughts etc.
  • Love to talk.
  • Don't know.
So if you agree with the things I listed above, please join!
To be a member to this thread, we talk about which breeds would look good crossed, and be hardy cross-bred. Spit it out! Come on, I want to hear YOUR imagination when it comes to cross breeding.

I will randomly post a nice cross breed (in my mind). If it's not in your imagination, and you ALREADY cross-bred it... Post pics and talk! As long as it is about cross breeding, please join!!

Have fun!

Sincerely,
-The Angry Hen

Okay the black pullet above is a cross between a Black Copper Marans hen and a Light Sussex cock
it's a sex-linked cross.
The white bird that looks like a muddy Light Sussex is a cross between a Brown Leghorn hen and a Light Sussex cock. if you look at the feathers above the birds' picture, you can see the brown partridge bleeding through on the end of the wings and the end of the tail.
it was a very interesting cross . I did not know they were crossbred until they fully feathered out in their juvenile feathering . Both of these birds are about three months.

Great thread - can't wait to see what mixes people have!

I've read that in dogs, mixed breeds/mutts often have fewer health issues. I think this is in part due to breeding for specific traits suck as flat or pug faces, etc. I wonder if this would hold true for mixed breed chickens. I would think that choosing only the healthiest, strongest birds to begin with would be helpful.

This is my first hybrid, a cross between this hen (Eowyn) IMG_3334.JPG and a red jungle fowl. She was hatched under my black hen Raven because Eowyn never goes broody.
