I know of some, but they are USPS Express Mailing their birds to Crossroads and flying to the show. You might try on a breed club forum. I think several United Orpington Club folks are coming from taht area, including their secretary. Just google the club and you should find their link.

Suggestion: enter your new cockerel in the show at Crossroads. He may not win, but you will have a coop to house him in during the show. The sale area is a bit different at Crossroads. No coops are available. Must bring your own and the cost is $50 for a 10x10 space. The entry fee on a single entry is $3. Not a bad fee for a storage cage.

I am planning on going to ARBA nationals (to look around -- too much to show right now). I will be looking for some Buff Orpingtons while down there... SO.. anyone going to the show (ARBA or APA) let me know...

Looking forward to it!

So there are no sale cages and you have to buy a 10 X 10 area? Are these inside by the show or???

They are inside a building. Two buildings will be occupied for the show.

Has anyone that's been to the Crossroads Show before participated in showmanship or known a kid who has? My 8 year old will be competing and I was wondering what the judges will be requiring. At some shows they require the kids to walk their birds, but we have not had to do that yet.

From the Crossroads catalog:

Showmanship: By appointment. Sign in will be all day Thursday and you must be signed up before 10:00 am Friday.

Showmanship awards will be awarded for the following:
Awards for 1st through 5th place in teh following classes:

6-8 years old - Peewee
9-11 years old - Junior
12-14 years old - Intermediate
15-18 years old - Senior

To be eligible for any of the awards above, you must be entered as a youth in the show on the entry form.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place will be awarded with plaques.

Showmanship will be ran by Diana Dahir.

Several judges will be on hand to move the class along.
NO WAITING!!!

There is no need to bring an extra bird for showmanship.

The DH bought a truck! Maybe I and one of the boys will be able to drive down and pick up birds! This is starting to look more likely!

Is there any BYC meet planned for any of the breakfasts or evenings when the show is not open? (because if the show is open, I imagine that is where everyone will be!)
