Crowber's Pandemic Coop - Carolina coop knockoff

Gorgeous coop rosemarythyme! I may have to get my daughter to change her mind about the blue!
Crowber, I had an Easter Egger years ago that I was pretty convinced was a rooster until she started laying eggs. Was more aggressive then the other chicks, even as a day old, and ended up being the boss lady!

The JG that I think is a rooster (they are all supposed to be girls) is because she is so much bigger than the other JG (she looks like a ostrich she's so big!) and also she's always focused on something else when all the others are grabbing treats. So she's either a rooster or just completely derpy. Penny has got a good comb going already and wattles starting up, and if she's a rooster I'm gonna cry. She is so sweet and soft and snuggly. If I have to give her up I definitely want another speckled sussex.

The speckled sussex are beautiful birds. Tough when you raise your laying hens from babies, only to find out they may be roosters. Chance are good she may still be a hen. Time will tell. 🙂

I'd love to see more of your build pics, I'm planning on starting this soon myself and I have minimal to medium woodworking skills
Built a dog house once lol came out pretty good. But I'm not an expert for sure.

Couple of pics from today. Almost got the roof on!

But don't do it like I did - I was copying the Carolina Coops roof with all it's notching, and I regret that so much. I should've just done a simpler roof, because all those notches added at least 2 days of work. Do not recommend.

should've just done a simpler roof,
Yeah, ya coulda.
Also coulda left blocking out between rafters for better ventilation, especially at coop.
Oh and extend rafters for larger roof overhangs to keep rain off/out of coop and out of run.
We have all suffered from that 20-20 Hindsight<sigh>
It sure is purty tho!!

Finished enough of the coop that I could stick my babies in it and get them out of my living room. The roof is on, the windows and all the crazy coop doors. Just need to finish the run screening, run door, and chicken ladder.

In retrospect, it would have been a bizillion times easier to put all the door hardware on when it was horizontal. There are 5 doors on one side! Looks slick, but boy is it a pain!

I had to get the polycarbonate custom cut for the windows, that ran me about 59 for all four windows. Totally didn't even consider that expense when I was planning.

Glad to have the girls in more space than a cardboard box. It was getting ridiculous having them in there, especially since one of the Jersey Giants is already ginormous. I did put their existing box in with them for their first night and I will take it out tomorrow.
