One thing I have seen with many of the grades is the higher wing tips. The standard calls for wing tip to be low enough that they just expose the hock(knee joint) so a good close by example is the first pic of the asil X. The knee joint is visible but the wings are still kept low. Just my honest interpretation of the standard.

it depends on what you use to grade and your selections imo
the asils that i used were long tailed white legged indian asil. like jat, i am finished with them and have already given one away. not sure if he got his from gallorojo but if he did then it is the same blood as my asil.
i will say a little thai goes a long way. i am liking the size and color but not all the feather plucking

All of my Cubalayas are feather pluckers. They are bad. It is a miracle I saw te type on the cockerel from this at an early age. I have my Shamo crosses around still. They are I think the fifth generation born. They looks very very similar to my pure lines, mostly because they share similar pure sires.

Oh yes. My pure birds and crosses have always been feather pickers. I know they are not protein deficient, so it is just out of boredom. I've even seen a bird pick on its own blood feathers. And hens almost always pluck the cocks saddle feathers out when penned together.

The only way I know to avoid this is to either pen them as singles or let them free-range. I've never seen my Cubes do this on free-range.

Yeah, the trouble with free-range is you don't get to choose who gets culled.

This cockerel keeps looking nicer and nicer. He is a little over 12 months old. This is his typical walking profile.

what are you breeding the pyle to? mine is in the wheaton pen now and i have a few eggs in the incubator. he will be moving to the white pen in a couple weeks.
