Cup o' Joe and Tea Too

Sad here.:hit Have had some bad luck with coons this week. Lost around 10 chicks and one hen that was sitting on eggs. I thought my coop was very secure ( had no issues last year) but the darn coons pulled my 6/7 week olds right threw the hardware cloth. Got my broody hen and most of her eggs last night right out of the garage. Been setting traps but all we caught was a cat. Had to move all the birds to cages high off the ground. Spent a great deal of money yesterday on building materials to build yet another coop that will hopefully be a lot more predator proof. And going to try and reinforce the one I have. Any ideas?? I just don't want to lose anymore of my babies.
Oh wow. That really is terrible. I'm so sorry!!! :hugs I just have no words. I cannot believe they got through the hardware cloth. That's a bit terrifying. That's what we all depend on. I'll be interested to know what you come up with.

You are in my thoughts! What color are you going with?
We are going with barn red with white trim. That's the color we painted the chicken supply shed, and will paint the other small coops. Eventually it should look really cute out there.

Update on me: After a couple rough days I spent the day in the ER today. They got my pain under control and I'm back on the road to healing. I got a little news about the pathology report, although not the "official" report from the head surgeon. I'll get that in about 10 days during a phone call appointment. Then he will tell me what the ongoing treatment will be for sure, but sounds like two years of a chemo that doesn't have the harsh effects like losing hair, weight, appetite, etc. So that's good news, but would have loved to lose some weight!!! After not hardly eating at all for 2 weeks in the hospital I gained 20 LBS!!! How does that happen? Now I have about 50 to lose again!!! :rant

Ah...this too shall pass. :D

My IBD came back in spades so I have lost weight not skinny but ..
You did not exercise in the hospital layed there as they said to huh. That is why you gained
I suppose. But most days I was on chips and sips, so no food at all. Unfair.

It's okay. This will pass and I'll get back on track soon. For now, I'm not allowed to exercise AT ALL, not even light on my exercise bike. No lifting anything heavier than a carton of milk. And this for 8 WEEKS! Wow. Seems like a lot, but after the pain I had this week, I will do what they say and just get well. :D

Maybe it's fluid. The body will hold on to everything it has stored when it is not getting any nutrition.

Good morning everybody! Fresh coffee on!!! And the tea kettle is whistling as always! Condiments on the counter, and fresh, warm banana bread for anyone who wants it.

Have a blessed day! I know I will. No pain!!! :D Well, mostly. :D
