~An of Feathers And Flames Story~
Owl sighed and followed Corvus's crashing footsteps grudgingly. The sunlight shimmered through the leaves, dappling her feathers and the ground with warm golden light. It was a beautiful summer day, and Owl was coming with Corvus to meet his "nEw GiRlFrIeNd"
Corvus crashed back through the undergrowth, a crooked grin on his face. His black feathers shimmered with colors like a dark prism. "Hurry," he pushed, flicking Owl in the face with his tail. Owl broke into a trot, following Corvus's easy long legged lope. She heard a muffled joyful yell, and then a different voice, clear and light laughter.
Pushing branches out of her way and shaking twigs off of her long black horns, Owl gazed out at the scene.
Corvus held the most beautiful silver scaled dragon Owl had ever seen in his wings. Corvus opened his wings, nudging the silver dragon towards Owl gently. "This is Owl, my sister," he told her. "Owl, this is Silversky."
Silversky had shockingly pale eyes that seemed galaxies deep, silver, but also somehow holding every color imaginable. Her scales were a shimmering silver color, with chrome-like freckles scattered across her snout, down her neck, across her wings. Her veins shown silver beneath her skin, and she had long tendrils extending down her back with a glowing orb at the tip of each. She was beautiful. But what was she?
"Hi," Owl said curtly, looking past Silversky, at Corvus with narrowed golden eyes. "UM. EXCUSE ME." she yelled, flaring her wings. "I seem to recall you never clarifying just what KIND of dragon your "nEw GiRlFrIeNd" is, but I wasn't expecting a WHOLE NEW SPECIES. Exactly what-"
Corvus stepped forward. "She's a-" he began, with a tinge of anxiety in his tone. But he was interrupted.
"I'm a LunarWing," Silversky said, her pale eyes narrowed slightly as she slid past Corvus as easily as quicksilver. "I assume you've never seen one before?"
Owl couldn't stop her jaw from dropping slightly. The sun glared off of Silversky's scales in a horrifically bright and distracting manner. "No, I haven't," she said, squinting. "New tribe drop or something??"
"Shut up, Owl," Corvus yelled, pushing his way in front of Silversky again. The silver dragon looked back at him, then twisted her head to look back at Owl.
"Really?" Owl said to Silversky, tilting her head at her brother. "You really decided to settle for Corvus, of all dragons? Like don't get me wrong he's great and all, he just seems a little... out of your league."
This got a small smile out of the moon dragon. "No," she said, leaning her neck against Corvus'. Corvus' feathers fluffed up with content. "You're just mad because Silversky is infinitely more beautiful than Spitfire is," he teased, sticking out his tongue slightly.
"SPITFIRE'S NOT MY-" Owl yelled, her crest raising indignantly. "Ughhhhhh. You're so frustrating."
Corvus laughed. "Luv ya, sis," he said with a grin. "Good talk." he turned, steering Silversky with him and took off, the two dragons catching the lazy summer breeze and drifting off, wings brushing slightly as they flew.
Owl watched for a few moments. "Ugh. Now I'm going to be expected to third wheel on that for the rest of time," she huffed, flicking her tail. She took to the air herself, flying back home to her own dragon.
(I kind of imagine Silversky having an accent, maybe German sounding-ish??)
