d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

The Duccles did great at 20 below and these have Orpingtons to cuddle My coop is lightly insulated and well ventilated Never have had frostbite on any
you should be in good shape then. I know a lot of breeders in the northern tear of the country and they all doo really well with them up there too in the winter, so you should be good to go, especially if the d'uccles have done good

I took some new pictures of my chicks yesterday. They look a little scrappy with their beard feathers coming in, but the colors are just beautiful and the type on the dun cuckoo pullet is especially nice!

just figured I'd tell all yall. If you're ever curious where I live.... just look at the weather radar and hunt down the biggest red blob around the GA/FL line... that'd be me.... my God , It's rained here every day for almost a month now, especially bad the past 10 days, and not forcasted to change for the next 10....I'm gone float off I think... you cant even walk in my yard any more without just sinking an inch or 2

Sorry to hear you've been getting all that rain! Bet it is pretty and green there though

You will probably be getting some nice weather when we start getting rain here in California. That is why we like to visit our son in Florida for Thanksgiving

Hope you get better weather soon!

Aubrey, same here. Yesterday was really the first dry day, but the humidity is still way up for the mountains. It's been a cool, soggy summer where the pens never dry out and the shavings in the coops soak up moisture right from the air. Horrible. Temps going up this week with high humidity. Ick. I've always hated summer. Thought it would be a bad one, but thought it would be for the heat, not the wet.

same here Cyn.

every thing is fully sheltered here, but we haven't seen the sun in over a month and all the bedding is wet as can be just from all the moisture in the air... not to bad on the d'anvers but the long tails get messed up quick like this... and yes God help us when it clears and the sun comes out at 100 degrees... it'll be so steamy you cant breathe.

got to love a Georgia summer.... this has been one of the wetest I can remember in a long time, usually we're begging for some rain right now, all we need now to top it off is a few good hurricanes to start rolling in haha

Chickee

yep that's about right, and yes it's green for sure, but starting to get muddy now too haha. cant even walk to the pens without boot any more, I usually use flip flops!

Had to finish a massive brooder today, had no choice. Got 300 ish chicks that just hatched that have to have one... I just had to stick with it in the rain and stay til it was finished.... I was a wet butt time it was done
