d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Oh thank you for reminding me...I also have five 7.5 week old loves inside in their brooder. A delawegger, a cochanver, a special snow baby and two danver/duccle crosses. AKA Zilla, Storm, Batman, Bert and Dolly.

JJ, I do wish you were closer. That Aubrey is really great looking. His markings on his chest are so complete, I'm very impressed by him. And you could have the mille fleur pullet, Mina, too. Gosh, if it was YOU, I'd just give him and Mina to you just for the honor of meeting you! Would love to do that some day.

P.S. you wouldn't have to take the Coch'Anver pullet, but I bet your wife would love her.

Be sure to let us know if you're coming down this way.

The five chicks are 4 weeks old now. I see one probable cockerel, maybe two, but no more than that, and I'm not even sure about the second one. They are super hard to photograph without the aid of my wrangler, my DH, but here are two pictures I managed to snap. You can see the pink in the comb on the one I'm pretty sure is male--JJ, I believe it's the one you pointed out and I had noticed that day as well.

Penny's very dark daughter really stands out among Aimee's four kids. Thank goodness the one with all that Kentucky Leg Fungus appears to be a pullet so she can be an egg layer and pet, not a breeder, unless someone just wants that trait for a specific reason.

Cyn--Good looking group of chicks. I cant really tell anything about the gender in the pics though.

Remember the silver quail chick I posted that just looked different. Now it's getting a white tail. I haven't seen that yet in all the other silver quail I have hatched.

Yeah, I know those are not good pictures for sexing, wasn't really trying to do that with those two lousy pictures. Will have to get DH involved in a week or so when they are bigger, if I'm confused by any of them. I do think I have at least 3 pullets at this point, though I really don't need to keep any of them.

My birds are trying to kill me. Bad bumblefoot girl yelling at me, Hector with his rash, Lancelot fighting a stupid stray cat that wanted to eat Zilla, Bert, Storm or Dolly or all, so now I have scratches cleaned all up on Lancelot....and my kitchen is turned upside down and sideways by my cleaning reorganizing fit. Oh and the cat passed away from lead poisoning. Grrrr And. Rufus baby just hatched a day and a half early. Would I have brooder ready early? Of course not. LOL
