not 100% sure how the true Japanese tongue sounds, but in redneck it's
O- he -Key.
That's how the few here that has them here says it at least.

That's one of the easier Japanese breeds to say, and man for a little island nation they got a bunch of them. They are all some of the most beautiful fowl in the world too. Unfortunately, Japan decided they were all national treasures, and it's pretty much a felony for them to export ANY of them out of the country any more.
That's why all these are so rare. There were a few of most all of them spread around the world, but in extremely limited numbers.
The most prized would be the onagadori. The ones that can honestly get 20+ foot tails with proper care. Pretty much they are what hatcheries describe when they are talking about phoenix, which were never in Japan, and certainly dint get tails over 4-6 feet.
Either way, those are so rare outside of Japan, that there absolutely ZERO pure ones in the US.

There are a small handful in Europe but that's it. Sad to say, their version of protecting all these is back firing on them as they are dying out.
Fewer and fewer people there are "getting into" keeping birds, and with less keeping them due to the high amounts of maintenance needed also, the number of birds are dying out, getting super inbred, and before long with wither away. Really kinda sad to see breeds that have been around over 1000 years dying off due to things like this.

Didn't realize that Japan has cracked down on exporting their birds. I was just curious, not going to add breeds or anything. I think if I can make some passable Watermaals that will be enough with the d'Anvers. They do look good though.

Oh-he-key sounds right to me, too, and I ain't a redneck, LOL.

Aubrey, Mina is threatening going broody, too. What the heck is up with that coop? Is it cursed???? She screamed and flared and sat on her egg all day yesterday, though it seems she left it to go roost last night because this morning, it was cold.

I'm sort of hoping that by Molly and Aimee both having eggs, I'll find out that Mina was sired by one of the porcelain males and have a little porcelain baby. Three of the four eggs are hers, or at least, I'm sure two are hers, one is Aimee's (who thankfully, almost always throws pullets, though they often have feather stubs on the legs) and one is anybody's guess, but I'd guess it's Mina's as well. No one else is laying in that coop and it was deposited in the nest with Molly. Mina insists on laying her egg on top of Molly, LOL.

Cynthia- Hope you get some porcelain chicks.

Thanks, JJ. Poor Molly, she can't get rid of Mina. I've removed Mina from Molly's back or from in front of or beside of her at least ten times today. Mina doesn't try to get into the nest with Aimee-guess she knows that would be a very bad move, LOL.

haha, you got a handful with those two dont you. That's odd for them to do that as much as she has though for sure, fingers crossed for you on some porcelains

I was just on your site looking for a picture of a crele pullet, you have any?
not on there.
I have 4 hens in the project pen. They arent marked good though due to their stage in the project. One has some of the correct makings.
will try to get one for you. Have them in a couple other breeds too, the ohiki and phoenix. I can round you up one some where.
Basically a bb red hen, but barred. Sort of gives a greyish cast over the main body color of a bb with the barring added
