d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Hope everyone has done okay with the rath of Sandy. The news reports have been horrendous.

Cynthia, Hope you get that Porcelain.

So far we had one banty hatch and may not get any more this hatch. The LF should hatch tomorrow.
The next batch is due on the 8th and then two more batches after it. Fertility has been down because of the time of year, but the pairs are dropping eggs in the nests. Don't know whaich I'm more excited about, the d'Anvers or my CWF1s. There are lots of wigglers in the eggs when I candled.

I've been in a mood not fit for human company lately, JJ. Don't want to bring down my good friends here on this thread, so not posting much.

I sure am hoping for a little porcelain pullet in one of those eggs.

My Aubrey hasn't been as much of a snot as usual so I hope he's feeling okay. Scares me when he seems too subdued after losing Angus. And the weather is all over the map, too-wet, cold, dry, windy, warmer, then wet again and chilly, etc.

well get in a better mood Cny, we miss you around here. Hope all is fine though. Get that way myself so fully understand.. still good to hear from you though.

JJ

Just got the word. The reds will be shipped first of next week. Of course it wont take me long to get you some pics of them on here

Aubrey, can't wait to see the reds.

Kris, congrats on the egg. I have been finding one once in a while, today 16. I am not hatching till the first of the year.

I've been setting eggs from the pairs and so far none have been developing enough to go in the hatcher...quitters. Pulled 9 out of 15 banty eggs tonight. One of the remaining 6 is a d'Anver. So keeping my fingers crossed on the Buff Columbian. Set 7 more. Wonder if I would have better luck with a broodie.

yep, this time of year fertility does tend to go down, mainly due to molting I think. Seems during a molt males are very fertile. I've noticed that over several years of watching them. but once they get feathered back up good, they seem to get right back to it

Hi, I am posting on here so it will show up in my "I've posted" section. I want to try to keep up with this thread a bit.

I have d'Uccles currently but am thinking of switching over to d'Anvers eventually. The foot feathering and the rainy Pacific NW is not a good combination.
I'm skimming through the thread a bit to look at everyone's wonderful pics!
