Dark Egg Breeds Thread

Hi,
I don't really know anything about it except I believe it may have been an imported line and as you know, is Wheaten. But I sent you a PM for a couple breeders who have the line and will know.

I believe it was imported by Laura Teasdale and the males are known for a comb that flops over in the back. It is apparently a little darker of a line. This line is know for looking like production red birds and having webbed feet and blue legs.

ok ok...I too had been trying to avoid this site, but couldn't anymore....your eggs are Gorgeous....I might have to break down and get some Marans....what kind do you have?

I have found that free ranging birds lay better and darker.. This is my personal experience... They tend to eat a lot of bugs and grass as the staple for their diet... I do note also that stressors change the color also. Does anyone else have this shared experience?

This sounds like they have a mixed genotype, and two bad faults. OK for producing dark eggs, but as Marans, no way.
