Wow. That is great, all of you. I am really pumped after reading your stories. Wonderful. Writer of Words, I especially liked yours. Being a mother of a grown son, I can tell you that it is amazing when someone gives time to these young males with too much time on their hands. I often found it was the boys that my son knew who looked like trouble or an undesirable who ended up being the best influence on him. Sometimes I think that may have been because I welcomed them into our (family) lives as well.
Today, while I am excited about day 3 of the challenge, I am a little bit ill. I am hoping that passes as I get up and about a bit. But I am going to work on the one I posted about writing out a note or poem. With luck I can get my printer up and running and get several copies. I am also going to try to do the charity box suggestion that Rainplace talked about. If I don't get it out to the shop, at least it is ready to put in my mother's truck for drop off soon.
I have several kids who walk by my house either to and from the school bus, or the McDonald's or YMCA here that has a waterslide. I am thinking about pulling out some of the things that I have been collecting (I collect little boxes, geological specimens like colored rocks, and interesting pieces of branches and wood.) and see if they want to take something home with them.
To my knowledge, I may be the only one who isn't able to get away from home easily. To explain, I am not totally house bound. I just can't drive or walk very far. In fact it is difficult for me to remain upright for more than a short time most days. And when I am able, I usually have a few days of recovery afterward. I get out about 2 times a month to do some shopping or take in lunch. I am able to walk to neighbors that live 1/2 block or so away. Hoping to get a scooter sometime in the future so I can have a little bit more distance. It would be nice not to have to rely on my 73 yr old mother to take me everywhere. But we do enjoy each other, so it isn't all bad... Just hard on her. Thanks for asking.
