day 17 of quail egg incubation but still no hatches.

Man oh man. Idk whats goin on over there but i wouldnt have my incubator set to 120*

I think u need to calibrate the extra thermometer right away. Buy a second one and calibrate it at the very least.

If it was only at 70*F they wouldnt have developed that far so i think its safe to say thats not accurate by a long shot.

I think bottom line of what @ChickenCanoe is saying was that you need to calibrate. Not that they think its that far (30* is Huge!) off but that it could be saying some crazy junk and in reaility be 4* off and that little bit make a major impact on any would be hatchlings.

Although, eggs will start incubating at 70 ish degrees, there are only a few of the germinal cells that do so...this is why when a hen lays a clutch over a weeks time, they are at different stages of development. When the hen finally starts to set in earnest, that's when the development takes off due to the constant or near constant temperature. Works in natural incubation but is disastrous in artificial incubation.

I wouldn't screw around with the temp by setting it that high. Anything above 104 will kill the embryos.
It sounds like you have a screwy incubator and bad thermometers. At least not accurate enough for incubation.
Cell division doesn't happen till internal egg temperature is over 80.6F. There is a slight possibility of hatching above 84.5F but they won't survive. You need at least 95F to get viable hatchlings and then hatch rate will be reduced below 99.

ok I reset the incubator and it seems to be working I have it set for 99.5*F and the other temp is at 93-96*F so going good when I candled one I felt a pip!
