Day 18 moved to hatch mode. IBW begins now. Day 21 PIPS! Now hatch!

4- Blue Giants 2 from Belle, 2 from Henrietta. Both of henrietta are in the hospital brooder.

D- 4 chicks out of 8 eggs.... not bad for shipped eggs and temp difficulties. I have a feeling you have one rooster and three hens!

The giants seem to take longer to get their footing.... Wasn't Henrietta's the last to hatch? Hopefully they will be alright.

Any idea when the four that didn't make it stopped?

Congratulations on your hatch! Doesn't it just wear you out?

I don't know when they stopped. I don't like getting to much into it. Hey, what color are their legs supposed to be? I'm trying to figure out who's who

Their legs should be dark and the bottom of their feet will be yellow. Don't think it will be too evident at less than a week old.

Ok, that's what I needed to know. I'll try sorting them out once they don't look so awful anymore. They are still got dry goo all over them. They are doing really really well though. The little splay legged one is a Barred rock I think. I'm not sure he's going to make it, but I'm hoping. Every few minutes he starts crying, So I run in there and rescue him from his latest problems. He flopped into the water earlier. He was doing pretty good, then I figured that his legs weren't close enough to each other so I tightened up the bandaid. I probably should have left it looser, he was getting around pretty good before.

It looks like it does have a head spot. Seriously, they have dried goo all over them still so I can't really tell. It's like their head fuzz is slicked down. I don't know how to get it off. I've been holding them through the day trying to pick it off a little at a time. They are looking a lot better, but still a mess. Some are fluffing up pretty good. I'm going to go take a picture and see what you think. I'll post in a little bit

Ok, here are some pictures.

this is the hospital brooder full of gooy blue chickens.

What do you think?

Yep, they are black. But then most of them are. But I think it's got that head spot. She's really small. How long do I need to leave the bandaids on? Have any idea? I feel so bad for her. I was worried it would turn out to be a roo, and I'd have to get rid of him after all this work, only to have somebody eat him. :thun

I wish I'd gotten a picture of the others before I put them out with the other kids, but I had to move them so quickly because they were beating up on these kids.

Any idea how to get the goo off?
