Day 18 moved to hatch mode. IBW begins now. Day 21 PIPS! Now hatch!

LC...I wouldn't worry about the goop on them too much. Back in november or december I had some "sticky" chicks hatch too. I tried to clean them without chilling them and finally gave up. I was amazed with how fast it cleaned up on it's own. Didn't take but 2 or 3 days and it was pretty much gone.

Ok, I'll let them fluff out naturally. They are working at cleaning themselves up. That little bob/bobbie, sure has a healthy set of lungs on her. She's yelling her fool head off till I go rescue her.

I don't think the little splay leg chick is going to make it. She's worse off today than yesterday. She's not bouncing around on her legs anymore, she's just rolling around on her bottom and yelling. I think she's losing energy. I'm about ready to let her go. Might be the kindest thing.

I'm sorry that the little splayed leg one isn't doing good. Your others looks so cute even w/ the goo and it looks like you got a lot of blues.

Great job!

This is my theory...right or wrong I don't know. Almost every chick I've ever helped out......and I try really hard not to anymore because I usually lose them, has had leg issues. I think part of the reason they don't turn and zip is because they have leg issues to begin with and don't have the strenghth in them to use them in the egg to help them turn and zip. I don't know if that's right or wrong, but it's what I've come to believe.

Still not looking good. I'll give her another day. I helped out 5 others and they are all fine. They are beautiful chicks. This one is just a little problem. The one from the last hatch is ok too. So who knows. Of course, most of the ones I helped, had zipped 2/3 rds of the way themselves. When I finally helped them out, their wings and stuff had dried to their heads, so they couldn't move. It's always a tough decision.
