Dear Eggland's Best: THAT's your BEST? Gimme a break!

The brown eggland best at our local commissary store are $3.69 dozen! My mother use to buy their eggs and swore they were the best...wish I could get some of their customers! BTW, last week my mother asked if I had any eggs that were easier to crack

I get $2.00 for my eggs but I think they are at least worth $3.00 and I've even had some complain they are too high at $2.00. I live in amish territory and a lot of them sell their eggs for $1.50. There is one girl where i work that won't buy from the amish anymore because when she got the chance see inside their coop there was a pile of chicken poop about 3 foot high under the roosts.

I guess it depends on where you live. I don't have regular buying customers. But I used the store bought eggs to put some kind of value on my eggs. Mostly I just share with family and my neighbors. If my eggs accumulate, then after a week I start feeding them back to my chickens.

Hmm............ after watching that I think I may have to change my egg carton dating practices. I've only been giving them a best by date of 30 days from when they were laid.

We have to buy store bought since I only have one girl laying right now. Eggland's best... what a joke. I prefer the cage free ones in the gray carton (can't remember the name) if I have to have store bought. My home grown eggs have been fertilized by my SLW roo, so they're priceless to me.

Side note... hey Lee, what's the name of the pretty boy in your avatar?

Well, not very original. My granddaughter named him Wyan. She bought him with her own money, so what could I say?

He is a very good flock master.

I can beat that non-original SLW name. Mine (see avatar) is Lacey. HE was supposed to be a she, hence that name.

Anyway, I think your granddaughter did a good job...Wyan is a great name for a SLW roo! Sure beats Lacey.
