Thanks, Lothiriel. I hope admin is still trying to throw together something, and I hope they will include people like you who volunteer.
I started this thread because I thought that we and administration could do this together-since admin does not have the amount of staff needed to help everyone. But I haven't heard anything from them as of yet.

I was looking at your sig line the other day thinking this same thing, Sonoran.
Is it okay to just put our e mail in our signature line???? I know I risk getting spam, but I'm willing to take that risk????? And then if we can get an e mail link again, I would soooo like it, as my phone doesn't accomodate BYC but I can get into our e mail accounts....Thanks!

But saying, "I would love to help!" isnt gonna be much help unless I know what it is I can do to help and how to go about doing it.

So, now we have volunteers, do we have a system?

Here is what I am seeing:

Mr X, Mr G and Mrs C all have a problem, possibly at the same time. Searching bring up 300 million results and they are overwhelmed, so they each start a new thread "Ackk, I cant type in green". Member 3 comes along and sees three posts "Aakk, I cant type in green", and knows how to fix it, so she responds to the top post. Mrs. C gets her problem resolved, but MR and MR G do not see this because they are still not sure how to find the new posts, and assume that no one cares, they get snarky and there thread fills up with "Quit your whining", "I hate this plaform" and ends up locked. We are not allowed to re-post something that has been locked, they dont know how to use the system, and well, they are just up the creek.

There is a TON of information on this sire about how to use this site. Seriously, there is ALOT of information. But finding that information? wow, I just stumble across stuff here and there.

Nifty has some wonderful tutorials out there, that I had no idea were even there until last week. We have FAQ, tutorials etc, but they are so unorganized. (sorry I am OCD)

We need to have ONE goto place with troubleshooting steps. It should be simple and organized, making it easier for older members, members with older puters, and those that are less tech savy.

Such as a main page:

registration problems click here
how to use the site click here (and have sub categories that take you to a page for forums, classified, photos, my account etc)
FAQ click here
Technical support click here (this should included thread showing resolved issues)
Get more help (this could include links to the mods and to the volunteer members)

The full support page SYSTEM should have a breadcrumb trail, with each page allowing you to get back to the main index page.

When a person asks for help, direct them to the "support system" tell them to work thru some basic troubleshooting steps and then contact someone for more help. Make a link to it as a sitcky, marked TROUBLESHOOTING CLICK HERE

This site have over 100,000 members, and there are already several volunteers. Let's move forward on this.
