DEATH IS ALL AROUND ME-NO LONGER CAN SWAP OR TRADE UPDATE!!

I am sooo sorry for you, but I have to side with everyone else...that doesn't sound like a weasel, it sounds more like a dog, to me. Sorry to ask painful questions, but when you say "gone"...does that mean you can't find them, or are they dead? And what kind of injuries? How do you know it's a weasel? And if it is a weasel, it's probably not going to be that easy to catch. I hope it was a dog, cause that will be a lot easier.

I think Willow is right, Weasel.

Maybe mamma weasel showing babies how to hunt? The sheer numbers...

I went through this early this spring.
Saw Willows pictures and realized I was panting and angry all over again.

I'm so sorry.

Chicknmania-No, they weren't missing, I almost wish that. They were all dead. It looked like something went in the pens, killed them, and then just threw the bodies in a pile almost.
My pens are made with 1"x2" wire all around, top and bottom. I do think I know why it did not get into my other pens. They are newer and I used 1"x1" wire on those. Weasels can get into the smallest places and I'm guessing that size was not small enough.
If a dog or anything bigger than a weasel got into the pens they would have had to rip them apart to get in. There is no damage to the pens at all.

I did take a new inventory today through clearer eyes. Here's the toll: I lost all my gold and silver seabrites(except 1 roo), all my adult buff orps, every single pigeon I had, 4 cochin hens(still have 2 frizzle roos that were in a different pen), 2 bronze turkey hens, 3 mixed banties, my phoenix roo and a hen( I have 1 hen left) and my mille flor d'unccles.

I do have 1 1/2 bators full of eggs but we'll see how that turns out.

2 pieces of GOOD news- The seabrite roo, I named him Clinger because he's clinging on, is still alive. I patched him up as best I could and he made it through the night. He's eating and drinking so that's good, right??
Also, I woke up today to peeping from the incubator-3 turkey poults hatched!! They will be VERY spoiled!! They came from my bronze hens.

Oh my gosh. This makes me want to cry. Such unnecessary savagery. I hope you can get rid of whatever did it before the new ones come.
Godspeed.

Thank God you didn't lose them all and you've got some babies and some more probably coming. Just remember, when one door closes, another opens. Good luck to you and all the rest.

I am sorry about your loss. I hope your Rooster recovers.

Have you had any luck with your trapping yet?
I did a little research, and it seems that this is the right time of the year for young weasels to be weaning and learning to hunt.
They usually have about 6 to a litter once a year. Gives you an idea of how many you might need to be trapping.

And countryatheart, There are weasels & mink in Texas.

Hi Willow!

I am so sorry for your losses. I lost my dog who I had for 16 years to coyote almost a year ago. She was my first dog, I got her when I was 7. My dad shot the coyote for me, and I feel bad saying it, but it did make me feel better. In January, I ended up loosing my other dog, that dogs daughter. Needless to say, it has been a bad year for me and my dogs. Dogs, chickens, pigeons, it is all hard to deal with. I am so sorry for your loss.

How is your survior-Clinger the rooster doing? I hope he is doing well. And congratulations on your three new baby turkies!

Best wishes to you! Take care.
