December hatch along

Speaking about incubators, I'm half-way through my first part of my split hatch. Ten more day's to go!

I am about 16 days away, so when I get the good news of your hatch I will be 6 days away. It seems to go by so slow at first but suddenly it all speeds up and baby chicks are in need of our care.

I didn't want my hatch to be too close to Christmas. I will be having to take care of my next door neighbors critter's while they go out of state for Christmas with their family. I didn't want to be having to check too many of the newborn chicks for poopy butts. The 1st part of my split hatch can teach the 2nd part about the food and water, and help to keep them warmer.

I actually considered doing a Christmas day hatch but I had the right amount of eggs ready to go and just went with when I had full capacity. The only specific date I am aiming for is Feb 11th because thats when I have chicks ordered and I figure its better to hatch on the same day so all the chicks are the same age in my giant brooder am currently preparing.

My Buff Orp had 4 Serama eggs. One hatched early and the chick didn’t make it. We got to the new house today and checked the 3 remaining eggs. Candled and it showed Movement in all 3. One chick is peeping in the egg and one egg has an external pip hole. I hope we find success in the morning.

I now have eggs due to hatch December 6th, 10th, 21st lol the person that shipped me the eggs that are due on the 10th sent me more because over half of what she sent last time got broke in the mail I told her it wasn’t a big deal that was the risk I had with ordering them but she sent new ones anyway

My saddle air sac chick made it with some help, she never did pip or zip but shes a fully hatched healthy fluff now 6 babies hatched of the 9, the last three eggs are in my mini brinsea advance, but theres no motion or sounds :/
