December Hatch:Who is going to have Christmas babies?

Cute babies Daze333. I'll be offering up more silkie, frizzle and sizzle eggs when I see something on the swap that I can get in the spring instead of now. My incubator is officially out of business till spring. I'm sure I can handle it for a few months.

I just sent off 21 eggs in the last box but the next one probably won't be so many because some have stopped. I just don't know which ones.

My frizzle went broody and I finally convinced her to get off the nest with a nice dust bath. She couldn't resist. She sure needs one because she's gotten pooped on a few times. I guess the other ladies didn't take it very well having to share the nest with her since she wouldn't get off it.

I disconnected my fan today(just un pluged it so wouldn't have to open bator) Got temps stable no pips but a I heard one of my duckling peep.. It startled me lol

Come on duckings you can do it

I was informed BYCer that too much circulation can cause the membrane to dry out to quickly before complete hatch(shrink wrap I guess). Plus my fan was loud and I was afraid of not hearing or knowing. I'm sure your set-up is fine but if your curious I'm sure others will make a statement

Ahh that makes a certain amount of sense especially since ducks take longer to come out after pipping. (up to 2 days) I think most of us just leave the fans on and up the humidity. Mine is too big to do without a fan..... Good idea though! Good luck on your duckies!! What do you have your humidity at?

My first and so far only attemt at hatching ducks was a near failure. I had 1 hatch out of 11 fertile eggs. I didn't do my homework and my ignorance is why so many didn't make it. First off I had them in with chicken eggs and incubated them as such. Second, when they went into lock down aind into the hatcher they where wth chicken eggs and where treated the same. I'll know better next time

Pics. 2 Russian Orloff chicks. Out of 5 eggs, 1 died in the egg, the other two eggs had already started to rot.
