My one early pip has hatched completely. It is a Mille Fleur Cochin bantam.
The zip came about 18 hours after the first pip.
The membrane is broken and the shell is cracked almost half around.
The zip and pushing out of the shell process took only 1.5 hours, for this chick.
Cute pic cos he's got half of his shell on his head, like an Asian hat.
Good flip over
And with one good push, the baby's out!! YAY, it was a clean hatch too, notice there is barely any blood in the shell. Baby looks good.
My first ever little Mille Fleur Cochin bantam. Notice the pronounced comb on the newborn. Might be a male this one... I'm so proud of my baby. Just after an hour, he has learnt to balance on his feet in a squat position. In no time, this little fella will be running.
ok, 1 down, 20 more to go. I've got 3 more pips happening now.
I'll be keeping vigil tonight again, for as long as my eyes can stay open, and I'll have the 2 furboys to keep me company. They are just are eager to meet the newcomers as I am.
