Oh okay. Well..... It is good that it can feed itself. Is the goiter full? Check at different times of the day. I wish I just said it'll be okay. It might. The more I think about it. Do you help chicks hatch out of eggs?

I dont wish 2 hatch eggs from them but mom is broody. I'm just concerned about their well being. I am an animal lover always but if it's best I will cull it now. I honestly wasn't aware of the problem until I picked it up today. Ty for all your advice

How old is the bird?

I do not think it look horrible.

Being 10 weeks and not extreme I think she/he stands an excellent chance at having a normal life.
I do not think culling is necessary for this bird since the beak deformity is actually very minor.
My Crooky was worse than your bird is. She is living a happy chicken life even with her challenges.

You'll know if you need to cull if the bird is unable to eat and drink without assistance (i.e. tube feeding, which is not practical for most people to do).

This so far is a relatively mild case so good chance she'll manage as is. You may need to do some maintenance work on it to keep the beak as close to normal as possible - if it overgrows on the margins you can use an emery board to file it down so the edges match up a bit better.

Thank you so much for the advice. I've been monitoring it all day and while I feel it is the most shy of the chicks, they are all eating well and this one sings so pretty when it takes its dirt bath. I will keep yall updated as these crucial weeks pass but I also feel it will be fine.

I think at least 10 weeks and likely a pullet. That is good since the deformed beak is minor and the bird already at least 10 weeks chances of a normal life are excellent.

I did say if it eats and drinks okay it is fine. I never said cull it. I didn't know its age. I didn't ask. Sorry. I am new to culling. It was in a chicken book. The chicken happened to survive being called. The chicken didn't feel good about being called.

That is a very mild case. Odds are that they'll live just fine.

Shae, pictured above, developed hers around mid August (about 12 weeks old), and when we trimmed her top beak (she wasn't wearing it down so it grew too long) it stopped moving almost that day. She is a healthy weight and doesn't need any sort if special feeding
