Delaware Gang @ Two Weeks Old (PICS for Del Fans)

Moved the 14 Delawares and 1 Barred Rock to the Firetower Coop with their heatlamp and they are going crazy jumping around. They love the new hanging feeder, too, and started eating out of it immediately. Here are some pics I took of them in the last couple of days. They are 18 days old today. Looks like I may have a fairly even split of male/female, but since they aren't even 3 weeks old yet, I'll know more in a couple weeks.

Boy they act happy. I know your hb loves it too. Mine are growing by leaps it seems and they sure love to eat. Due to the rain we have not gotten all the hens together so the little ones have their brooder still. It is about 4 feet long by 2 wide so they have plently of room still. When I read your note about Snows babys I sure wished you lived even closer. I could just slip over and get me some. Sigh not to be. Not this year anyway. What I get will have to be local. I can't afford any more tickets. LOL. What a day that was. How is your foot and ankle now. Is it still swelling as large? Moms still swells sometimes but she uses it well after a year. Jean

Cyn is it just me or do these Dels act like demented popcorn? When they all get going they make me dizzy! Do you Del folks know any place online with a written standard? I'm still too new to know much at all about them.

They are like popcorn! I've used that exact word about them in the last week. They are so happy to get attention, too.

Gloria Jean, my ankle does swell alot when I'm on it during the day more than usual. I just traded my walker for a cane my neighbor had, so I'm making progress.

Terrific, Jared!!

You know, the little one that hatched a day later than everyone else is much smaller, but the most precious thing. She always seems so sleepy so a few days ago, we began feeding her mashed egg yolk away from the others. She perks up and just sings like a bluebird while she eats. I hope she sticks around for me. She seems healthy and has an appetite, but I think the much larger babies were running over her at the feeder. She does go eat on her own and I have hopes that she'll catch up. She seems so special. The others are adorable and strong and the little roosters are becoming very apparent now.
