Delaware x Barred Rock Chicks--Indy, Rex and Ira's Progress Thread

Quote:
he looks single Barred, thats why he does not have that crisp barring, culd it be that the his Dad the Delaware rooster is actually single Barred? and he didnt pass his Barring gene to Rex only his none barring gene? but thats just weird sas Delawares are Double barred... interesting events indeed..

I have two other brown egg laying hens besides Rocks with my Delaware rooster and his two Delaware hens. I have a solid black Ameraucana hen (well, she came from a BBS Ameraucana flock, but has obvious Sumatra lineage somewhere, so she'd be called an EE, I suppose-lays a small brown egg and has spurs). And I have a red hen who is out of a BLRW rooster over a BBS Ameraucana hen. And I thought maybe this male was from one of them, but don't know which:
The big puzzle for me:
This male is 15 weeks, has white skin and is now showing red in the wings. He is VERY lean bodied, too, another clue.

Who is his mother, do you think, Marvin? The red BLRW/Ameraucana cross or the EE/Sumatra hen? Their pics below:

This is Tiny, who is probably only 4.5 lb.

The red hen is leaner than she appears in the photo, very much an EE style body.

Wow, really? Even with the red in the wings? Could that come from the Wheaten part of the Delaware? Thank you, Marvin! You seem very certain. I like that! I was really becoming so confused this year with not being able to ID the eggs as well as I used to be able to. I never intended to reproduce that hen as she has some sight impairment (noticed at hatch) and can be aggressive when she is frustrated and "needy". She is a royal pain. If this is her son, he so far seems to be okay tempered, but I was wondering about his eyesight-there have been times when he seemed to not be able to see very well.

Jeff was talking about this post:

This chick is from another of the Marvin Stukel line BR hens with my Dellie rooster. He looks like he will be nicely barred like Indy.

Wheaten as you can see can look Silver(Delaware) if they are based on silver, so the were is the Gold coming from? Certainly not form the Barred Rock as BR are Silver. so the Red is coming from the mother....you see Black can Hide Red too even if you dont see it..
