WOW! When Dash & I were newlyweds (and POOR) those were a regular treat I'd bake to keep us happy. The recipe was a gift from one of the "little old ladies" at church who was 90+ if she was a day. She obviously remembered what it was like to be young like us.

My mom makes Ham and bean soup and corn bread...I don't know how to make it, but I know that it is a recipe that her mother and her mother's mother made. I can get the recipe if anyone is interested. Apparently it is a staple here...
I know that you take a ham bone left over from an oven roasted ham and use that to make the soup, but that's about all I know. Don't know how to make cornbread either. I know. I know. I'm a disgrace to Oklahomans everywhere lol! Cornbread is part of our official state meal- yep we have a
state meal Fried okra is part of it too...along with chicken fried steak......I hate fried Okra, and up until recently hated cornbread....but I think it was my mother's cooking on the cornbread
