Detached/ wobbly air cells turn/tilt or other? Any help appreciated.

Yes, just got them today, silkie eggs, and all have loose air cells. The breeder could not have packed them better, eggs in foam and double boxed. The eggs look better though then the last set, where many were detached completely.
I have used the upright incubating method the past 4 times with limited success. I have tried waiting anywhere from 24 hours to 7 days not to turn them without much difference. After doing A LOT of reading and research, I am in agreement that it is important to turn them early and often, so I have decided to let them settle 6 hours only, then let them sit upright in the incubator for 24 hours, then lay them on their side in my Brinsea incubator and let the turner do it's work, set for every 90 minutes. I am going to do my best to be "hands off" as much as possible and not candle until day 7. I have one of my own silkies' eggs added that I will use as a "control". 😊
That’s great keep me informed! I will be interested to see how your hatch goes. It’s so hard with shipped eggs, I also have 6 eggs (also shipped) that are currently resting I’m hoping to set them on Monday, a couple of them have loose air cells and they will be going into my brinsea maxi (so again on their side) can’t decide whether to turn them from the beginning or wait a day 🤷🏼‍♀️

From what I understand, if the air cells are big, then the eggs should be set sooner rather than later in the incubator as they are already getting old.
First photo is from my silkie laid this morning. Note small, well defined air cell.
Second photo is one of the shipped eggs, that per the breeder was laid Sunday, so 6 days old.😊

They are great pics! The air cells in these new eggs are quite small, they were laid and posted Thursday, delivered Friday but there is slight movement in the air cell when I gently tilt the egg, not fully detached but “jiggly” my idea was to rest them slightly longer than last time before setting them, I don’t know whether it will help any or whether I would be better setting them today?

I would not wait more then 24 hours to set, but wait to turn in the incubator however many days you have decided. 😊

UPDATE- I got 9 out of 10!! 🥳 the one with a detached air cell that was sat upright in a carton and not turned from day 14 was one of the first to hatch! Some of these eggs had shocking saddled air cells so I was really surprised!

I opened the one that didn’t make it and it was the wrong way round, surprisingly it had an air cell that was pretty close to normal which was a shame 🤷🏼‍♀️ But I cannot complain with 9 out of 10 from shipped eggs 🙂

Just saw this post! Congratulations! This is awesome news. Cute chicks! 🥰

Great post - I'm dealing with some detached cells and I didn't realize I had them until I did a complete candling at lockdown yesterday and did some frantic googling after seeing half of my egg cells are saddled. I just left everything as normal and am hoping for the best - your post gives me at least some hope! I now know some tips for next time, at the very least!

Fingers crossed for a good hatch! How many do you have in? Mine had some quite severe saddles so anything is possible! Let me know how it goes. 😁
